Apparently he's on the short list for the Texas job...
So am I.
Apparently he's on the short list for the Texas job...
Help me out, wasn't there at least one game where GRob was visibly unhappy with Schiano afterward? Maybe Texas should simply ask its current DC of his opinion on Schiano.Put me on the list that says when Texas fully vets him, there is no chance he gets the job.
We hashed this out a week ago. Here's what happens - Strong takes an SEC gig this year and he gets Louisville. There's no chance in the world that Texas or USC hire him while they're teetering. Louisville gives him the state school, copter-type stuff to leverage for recruiting. Also keeps him in the general area of where he can recruit well (northeast) while also letting him keep continuity with LVille's Florida inroads.
I don't think he'll be that good there, but it's a fit.
if saban leaves or miles leaves, there will be dominos and strong will never be better positioned. there's no upside of breaking in a new qb in the acc next year.Strong isn't leaving before they transition to the ACC. Plus they got $ and a good AD.
And they are smart, so they won't hire beef head.
I could see Belichek giving him a gig on his defensive staff.
If he wanted to be a position coach, sure. But Matt Patricia is a good, young defensive coordinator and he won't be losing his job so Greg Schiano can step in.^^ This. Can see that for sure.

his ego is way too big for -UCONN unless they land in the ACC,NOT THE AACI was thinking the same thing. The UConn position would play into his coaching strengths and would allow him to tap into his recruiting contacts in NJ. And like the situation when he arrived at Rutgers, the Huskies have nowhere to go but up. Another big Plus is that Sikorsky is based in Stratford, CT.
On the down side, the Huskies are stuck in a putrid league.
LB coach seems a little low on the totem pole for a 10 year college coach and 2-3 year NFL coach.Yup.
Schiano could land with the Pats for a year as a LBs coach or something. I could see that.

you don't spend a billion dollars in recruiting to hire some gap toothed baby gorilla in hopes that they can ride punt blocks to the national championship
My mind isn't boggled. That sounds about right. Here's a mind boggling statistic:
Schiano was 68-67 at Rutgers for his career. 28-48 in conference. Of his 40 OOC victories, 15 came against FCS opponents and Army, and 14 came against MAC opponents and Navy. So 29 of his total victories, or 43%, came against those opponents. I knew his record was inflated but that is just unreal after crunching the numbers.
about two years ago I posted similar results and I think he had no OOC victories against a bcs school above .500 for the yearHere's a mind boggling statistic:
