Greg Schiano interviewed yesterday with Miami officials. Sources tell us that Miami hopes to have made their selection no later than Wednesday.

If he gets it you will know that those boys from Miami central will read him the riot act

If there is ever a college program stuck in a time warp its Miami. Pushing for Butch is proof of that. They think its the 80's 90's and early 2000's and that they should be playing for a national title every year. They have no IPF, a horrible stadium situation, and are a private school. They aren't a powerhouse football program any more but try and act like it. Instead of going to the past and Butch Davis they should look towards the future and accept who they are get some new blood in there.

I know Schiano's name is mud on this board (with good reason) but he would be a much better hire for them than Butch Davis in the year 2015.

Does Miami need an IPF?

This guy will fit right in on South Beach.

He already has the bloated, beached whale look down. Just has to move his act south from the Jersey Shore.

Better than Butch Davis isn't really a high bar, but if Miami wants to be idiots, I am fine with it. Do they chop wood in Coral Gables?

Not sure what you have against The U, but I think you are underestimating how quickly the U can get it turned around with the right coach. Tons of talent on the team with more in the area with the right leader. Interesting article out of the SEC on how "they" feel about the Canes...

If were Miami king for a day, I'd hire Davis back, make Cristobal the AHC/Coach in waiting (as much as Butch loves coloring that hair, I don't think he'd want to coach more than 4-5 years.

They'd be putting a wall around South Florida, and it would rally all the U alums.

Sat next to him on a plane two weeks ago and he really doesn't look like he could do it for more than 4-5 years. Nice guy though.

Yes. Badly!
True for UGA as well. They finally committed to building one.

The reason that Miami & UGA need one is twofold... heat and rain/storms.

Miami prefers noon kickoffs to avoid frequent afternoon rain. That same rain falls during the week, when the team may be practicing.

At UGA the current options are to skip a regular practice or to get the players dressed and then bussed to the Falcons indoor facility in Flowery Branch... nearly an hour, each way.

That would be in line with what the fans in South Florida would prefer.

That sounds like us.

It's not hard to predict where I'll go with this but Miami should go pass spread crazy. FSU is pro style, Florida's AD hates offense and will eventually go back to a meathead in a couple years. They need to separate themselves from those teams

I have nothing against them. They have a horrible stadium situation, its a private school, no IPF...it's not a great job. Sorry those are facts. This ain't the 80's and 90's...the landscape has changed. Miami is closer to USF than it is FSU and Florida.

We have an IPF and are about to get a new stadium or re-do the one we are in which happens to be on campus. Miami's stadium is an NFL stadium that is not convenient for students or fans to get too and they can't get an IPF built. Not even close to our situation. Yeah they got better players but that is due to the geography and being located in southern florida. Nothing we can do about that. But Miami is not an elite job anymore in football. It just isnt'. It's a good job, not a great job.

You want to rank open jobs this year. The job openings at VT, South Carolina, Missouri are ALL better than the Miami job. I won't even mention Georgia and USC which are clearly better as well.

Is Miami a better job than Syracuse, Illinois, UVA, and Rutgers...sure. But to them that's an insult to be lumped into that group and not in the first group. But they are closer to the UVA and Rutgers of the world than they are to the South Carolina's and Missouri's.
