Made some pretty passes too. The other two were just too good to take out in the second half.

...agree...however; Triche and Waiters are the best combo we got. I still see Scoop starting and going as long as he plays well and team plays well. Against VT, even though he was clean with no TOs and 4 assts, team overall did not move the ball well and was mostly stagnant in half court (dont know if this is a Scoop problem or not) For what ever reason...Triche and Walters are quicker and pass faster so more touches for all players and half court set is better.

Scoop was pretty good its just that Triche and Dion are much better and when Scoop isn't in the game Brandon gets to run the point some and he never does when Scoop is in.

scoop will be fine and there will be games we will need him big time.

Yup, Scoop has realized his role. He is not a lead guard, and we cannot win big with him being our top shot taker.

as long as the turnovers remain low, I'll be happy with Scoop. Oh and no stupid shots please

Was that diatribe truly necessary? I don't think anyone is truly in the right or the wrong. We are 4 deep at guard and talent aside different games may call for more scoop and less brandon or dion. Remember scoop when he is on his game can make a difference out there. Not trying to come down on you .. But maybe chill a bit.

I think assists are overated when you give them to a quick isolation threat, or get them in transition. They just are not the same.

My problem with Scoop is having the right guys to work with. If he had more speed and scrappyness the guy could be Jameer Nelson but hes just not.

This is my positive criticism IMO...

1. He just isn't going to blow by all division one point guards this year and it could cost us a big loss even a season ending one evenutally.
It has the last two years in some Big games. Im a supporter but hes just not lightning quick enough for his size (even with his massive upper arms).

2. He just isn't built for a no high post offense. He doesn't have the speed to compensate for the height loss to be. Even with those massive upper arms to protect the ball. Maybe if Rak and Melo get better as the season goes along and he turns to a full time feeder.

What he is...
3.Hes a pop and go PG with a excellent crossover due to his ability to protect the ball. With a excellent pull up foul line Jay, and excellent layup skill. He can protect the ball extrememly well and low with his strong upper arms, but that doesn't translate to points in the paint. That translates to protecting the ball and getting no bucket.

The problem is getting him those spots to be that. I just don't know if we can throw that in as a suprise trick play 5-6 times a game to get our 5th year senior rolling. If we can figure that out we will be much better this year.

Even if it means making him a 6'0 SG instead of PG those spots are so key.

Scoop is our best PG. It isn't even close. The problem is Waiters is our best player and needs the ball in his hands. The two of them together are a bad combo. So if we get the good Waiters, it is hard to play Scoop at the same time. If we get the bad Waiters, then Scoop will get more PT. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Scoop play the 2 G when Triche isn't hitting his shots.

It's never been ideal to have Scoop be in a main scorers role, he is a facilitator and can be a quite effective one with the current surrounding cast. I'm glad to see he's taken that in stride and hasn't felt the need to force the issue and "get his".

If, and it's a big if, Scoop can adjust to playing the role this team needs each game, we are going to be nearly unstoppable. If not, then we're going to have some head scratching losses.
