When a team blocks a shot, does it count as a missed shot? If so, does the team that recovers the blocked shot get credit for a rebound?

It does count as a missed shot... I do not believe anyone gets credit for a rebound or steal though.

Correct, it does count as a missed shot. However, you are incorrect on the rebound. There has to be a rebound for every missed shot, so one is credited after a blocked shot.

If that is so, we can expect some closer rebound totals as it seems to me the offensive team often recoverable the blocked shot.

Does somebody get credit for a rebound when they run down an air ball rolling out of bounds?

This is completely wrong, Fab had 5 boards and 4 blocks yesterday, none of those boards were on blocks.

I think he means that who ever gets possession of the ball after the blocked shot gets credited with a rebound, not that the blocked shot itself counts as a rebound.

yep, after re reading it went completely over my head. good call, probably correct.

The person who blocks the shot does not get credit for the rebound (unless he is the one who actually gets the rebound). However, statistically, there has to be a rebound for every missed shot or else the box score does not balance.

I believe they go as "team rebounds" which is kind of like a turnover/rebound. This is also the case when someone shoots the ball and without touching another player, goes out of bounds. the defensive team gets a "team rebound"

So for Fab's 5 rbs, and 4 blks, 1 ea came on the same play? He blocked a shot, grabbed the ball and ended up throwing it away.

Yes, if he blocks a shot and gets the ball, that's a block and a rebound. And personally, as an SID the only time I put something as a team rebound is when the ball goes out of bounds without anyone possessing it following a shot.
