I watched the Sean Tucker highlights in stop motion; and was struck by two things. One, the line created holes by sticking to their assignments and two, he really hit the hole fast. On his touchdown run, No 8 from Ohio should have had him, but Tucker was by him too quick for him to react. This may not be the case with better competition, but it does bode well for a line that can open a hole, but may not necessarily hold the gap long. The kid is quick.

He's not overly fast, but you're right, he's QUICK. Great body control and decision making.
He was a 10.5 100 meter track guy in HS. He is faster than almost every LB we will face and most safeties

Don't let his patience and size fool you, he runs away from people often (go rewatch the ND game from last year for a reminder)

He didn't yesterday - but you're right about ND.

He ran away from the 2nd level a half dozen times or more (basically all his longer runs) but yes he didn‘t run away from the safety help this game.

I thought Ohio took great angles and were very focused on him as opposed being an afterthought to teams last year.

Yep, quick and now VERY strong.

Yep. Guy had the angle and the sideline - he’s not getting him in a foot race

Balance and burst are more important than outright speed for a RB. Tucker has elite balance and burst.
My formerly shattered talus bone agrees wholeheartedly with this.

Yup, we had pretty weak WR downfield blocking yesterday on the edges too and I wonder if he never ‘opened it up’ totally because he never had daylight to the outside because the corner was always there to muck up his path.

Agreed.

Which is why I’d like to see a package with guys like Alford, Gadsden, maybe even Benson out wide - then Bad Mutha Tucker would have some serious beef downfield to block for him.

And - we’d have tall, fast dudes to throw it to, so it’s not like we’d be tipping our hand that it’s a run formation.

Benson missed a couple of blocks in space

One thing I liked about Tucker, if my memory from Saturday is correct, on his touchdown he didn't yell and scream in the end zone, didn't spike the ball into next week, I think he just flipped the ball to the ref. Those of you who can replay the game can correct me here. That was classy in my opinion.

After week#1 is Tucker the NCAA's leading rusher?

The OLine really impressed me. A lot of open space for him to run through. Hopefully that continues.

Benson is below average (being kind) as a blocker, even when he doesn't miss. I would guess that factor alone limits his snap count more than anything else. I have wondered if the staff ever hought about converting him to WR.

If Elmore gets back, that might be a good idea. Would love to see Mang downfield blocking. How many Linebackers, and Defensive Backs would make half hearted attempts to get by him?
