NOT!

Funny to hear this AM on ESPN that while playing highlights of Missou-Minny game, "here's one bowl game the SEC didn't lose!"

I thought ESPN were the new homies of the SEC...

I bet we hear leading up to NC game the ESPN analysts will be saying, "SEC still best football conference in America" just having a down year this year...and Alabama simply had a bad game...

Best thing for college football is the new playoff system - prove it on the field not based on some computer model. First time I've stayed up watching the game last night CAUSE it meant something!

Now all we need is an 8 team playoff as some great teams were left out. Eight is enough!

The Big Ten earned some serious coin in their negotiations coming up with Fox and ESPN. Ohio State beat Alabama, Michigan State beat Baylor, Wisconsin beat Auburn and Michigan hired Jim Harbaugh the Big Ten had an unbelievable week.

SEC hoodie-pajama wearies will say they never proclaimed their were the best conference when all we heard from them and ESPN was how the SEC-West only lost 1 game to a non-SEC West team Mizzou beat Arkansas.

However their non-schedules as an ENTIRR division only included wins over WVU-neutral field, Kansas State, Wizconsin-neutral field, Boise State-neutral field, @Texas Tech and then all tomato cans.

Hey SEC improve your damn OOC schedules the resting on the laurels of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Auburn's reputations as a whole is gone.

The top five SEC West teams gave up an average of 501 yards and 40 points a game in the bowls.

Of their five losses, four were to lower ranked or unranked teams.

As an ND fan and unrepentant Yankee living in Louisiana, I am ok with all of that...

To be fair, what was the BiG's best non-conference win before yesterday? Was it Indiana over Missouri?

There is still an argument to be made that the SEC was the deepest league. Auburn finished 4th in their division and lost to the 2nd place BiG team.

Honestly, I think this best conference stuff makes for nice yelling from Pawwllll and Kanell on ESPN. Does it really make Michigan fans feel better if Ohio St wins the title?

Yeah, the SEC was exposed this weekend (though to be fair, they were all one play away from winning those games that Alsacs mentioned, and Alabama easily beats Ohio State if Lane Kiffin just gets out of his own way).

Please just expand the playoff to 8 so that teams like TCU aren't left out again.

Would have, should have, could have. SEC gets waaaayy too much love every year. They defiantly have quality football but the amount of attention they get overall is truly obscene.

Honestly the SEC brand and reputation is why Alabama was number 1 over Oregon.
Look at their resumes
Alabama's best wins
#7 Miss State
# 16 Missouri-N
# 19 Auburn
@ # 24 LSU
WVU-N
@ Arkansas
Texas A&M
L- @ #9 Ole Miss

Oregon's best wins
# 8 Michigan State
# 10 Arizona
@ #14 UCLA
@ # 20 Utah
Washington
Stanford
L- # 10 Arizona

The SEC brand propped Bama over Oregon as the number one team. This Bama team was unlike the previous NC teams which played defense.

This is why I don't believe rankings with SEC! They get a few teams in preseason rankings. Don't play big OOC games then beat on each other and everyone thinks the conference is great!

SEC had a down year and was over rated for sure... but they are still the best conference in America by quite a large margin. I would probably trade our roster with every single one in the SEC.

You will never know until bowl season

If any other conference was embarrassed the way the SEC was this bowl season they would get destroyed in the media. And while the ACC hasn't set the world on fire, at least one of our teams won the Orange Bowl.

The B1G is clearly the best conference this year, Pac 12/Big 12 probably 2 and 2a, ACC is 4th and SEC is 5th.

I want what you are smoking ... Big12 with only 1 win is the second best? PAC-12 is better than the B1G ... not even close.

This is a wildly inaccurate post. To imply the ACC is even in the same world as the SEC is just silly. Bowl games dont prove much honestly. SEC teams have one goal, to win the title. Teams like Ole Miss and Miss St... they were never going to get up for those games. The PAC12 is the best, the SEC is a close 2nd.

then there are the rest.

I am curious as to where I said that the Pac 12 is better than the B1G.

Not sure I can buy they aren't going to get up for the game. It is the perfect time to showcase yourself, school, and what you do as a coach.

I didn't say you did ... I'm telling you they are better ... I still wonder how a team that won a single bowl game is the second best in America ...

Who did the SEC beat out of conference?

Georgia over Clemson and Louisville, LSU over Wisconsin and Missouri over Minnesota are the only good out of conference wins the SEC has.

ACC has wins over Georgia, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame x2 and Ohio State. Plus, two middling ACC teams won bowl games against the two best AAC teams. While that might not be a huge accomplishment, UCF won the Fiesta Bowl last year and Cincinnati is always good.

People go crazy for the SEC game day atmosphere that they don't care about the product on the field. The SEC has been the best conference for a decade, but this year they aren't. And the notion that Ole Miss and Mississippi State only care about wining championships is a joke. Ole Miss had a chance at their best bowl win in decades, and Mississippi State had a chance at their first major win since beating Georgetown in the 1941 Orange Bowl.

How is the Pac 12 better than the B1G?

The second best Pac 12 team lost to Boise.

Eh, I think you're taking way too much from one game. Just because the bowl games are what the teams play for doesn't mean the better team always wins. I think Alabama was pretty easily better than Ohio State this year, and even yesterday. Lane Kiffin just wouldn't let them win for some reason. To me, I would go with the SEC, then Pac 12, then Big 12, then Big 10, then ACC.

The only way to judge the strength of a conference is to look at who they beat nationally. This year the SEC just isn't that good. I'm sure it's just temporary. And I genuinely believe the ACC is better than it gets credit for.

You've looked up the ACC's record against the SEC this year, right?

The toughest game OOC was WVU. They lost the other one (last night). Alabama wasn't a clear anything.

If they simply hand the ball off last night, they win by multiple possessions. Ohio State had absolutely no answer for their running game. Kiffin just refused to use it for some unknown reason. So yes, I think they were the better team all year and last night didn't do anything to change that opinion. They just blew an easy opportunity, which happens from time to time. I'm not about to say Ohio State was a better team because of one game, just like I disagree with the people that say Baylor is better than TCU because of one game.
