Nothing fancy, simple execution many of the same looks.

Loved the play action pass of the zone read look, very Marrone/Hackett 2012.

Use Estime as a wing back, just like they are using Harvin, because those plays are nothing more than old school wing t plays when he runs that sweep.

Loved the fullback counter the Packers scored on.

And no bubble screens!

They threw at least one bubble to Harvin, but he took a couple of quick steps back at the snap and was moving forward when he caught the ball. If I remember right, there were two other blockers on that side.

option football just got much smarter. throwing the ball forward is better than throwing the ball backward. next step in the evolution of the option, zone read, jet sweeps, now this

its not like teams are worried about their running game between the tackles, or the QB is a threat to run, or the D gets off the field on 3rd down, or their Oline is good

I am a huge fan of the zone read. With a mobile qb I feel it's the single toughest play to defend in football. I can't even think of an offense that relies on it that isn't an outstanding rushing team. Once Pugh came back, and towards the end of 2012 we basically called that on 75% 0f the running plays. Teams knew what was coming and still couldn't stop it. I know it's not in McDonald's offensive philosophy, but I just can't see how using the bubble screen as an extension of the running game is a better option?

That was the essence of the "pro option" that McPherson and Graves ran.

except they pitched the ball backwards a lot

i hate thrown fumbles

and i really hate laterals that go forward than miraculously curveball back. (music city miracle)

It was awesome.

Did a great job of marrying pro concepts in a college offense.

Is it because they aren't? Its a twenty yard handoff using substandard blockers. Its like having your tackle go out for a pass. Good once in a awhile but would rather see lineman block and tailbacks run with the ball.

Id much rather be an option offense than a screen pass team. If we could run the zone read that would be better. Again - i liked Novas O for us. we dont have the athletes for the seahawks, but we can read our way to 3-4 yards a play
