Comment: I said before the season that I hoped Brandon Triche could be this year’s version of what Kueth Duany was a decade before: a solid, consistent all-round senior who leads the younger players by example. Other posters said they would be disappointed if that was all he was because they thought his capabilities were greater than that. I actually think he fell short of what I was describing as he was so inconsistent. But Kueth was surrounded by talented offensive players and Brandon was not, so he had to force things more and I think that hurt his consistency. But his resulting numbers were pretty close to what Kueth did in the national champion ship year. And we made it to the Final Four. So he wasn’t as far off the goal I’d set as we thought. There’s also an interesting comparison to his uncle Howie, who was small forward. But the closest statistical match appears to be DeShaun Williams, another player who was consistently inconsistent but who showed flashes of being a better player than he actually turned out to be.
