With the USC and Awbren jobs more than likely opening up at the end of the year, would Babers reject his coach-in-waiting offer from Clemson? The Clemson job may not be open at year end like the other two.

So, your message to Dino got through to him?

It's gonna tough on Clemson, now that Dabo's agreed to go to 'Bama. Just sayin'

Which USC we talking about? I don't think the Trojans fire Helton this year (They won the Rose Bowl two years ago and are in rebuild mode this year). On the other hand, i could see the Gamecocks parting ways with Muschamp.

Helton is definitely on the hot seat, but shouldn’t be. If they fire him, who in their right mind would want to coach there? He took over for Sark in 2015 and still managed to make the conference championship game. In 2016, finished 10-3 with a Rose Bowl win. In 2017, 11-3 Pac12 Champions and a loss in the Cotton Bowl. You have that success with one down year and they are calling for your head. Mind you, there were some calling for him to be fired in 2016. Absolutely laughable.

I am authorized to speak for Coach Babers. His position is that he is comfortable at a university where an 8-4 record is not a fire-able offense, while still having the real possibility of winning his conference and attending the playoff.

On a more serious note, in his post-game presser after NC State, he placed special, deliberate emphasis on saying that they are going to continue to win "the right way". I think that rules out any prospective SEC jobs.

Mark Coyle was recently seen in the Jamesville area driving a Minnesota Golden Golphers big rig. He wants his coach back. They ain't doing so hot. You guys in the dirty south got some competition.

Swann has started making moves. Helton fired his best friend last night, Neal Callaway, their OL line coach. Tee Martin also was relieved of his play calling duties. They have not been able to run the ball. Even in the Utah debacle, linemen are looking around at who to block and/or getting blown back. They stopped practicing in full pads last month. Any corrections they try to make is through watching film and not implementing man on man in practice. It’s crazy. This is a chance for Helton to improve a bit and potentially see better results. If he doesn’t he’ll certainly be gone though I think he’s done regardless.

You don’t get it. It’s valid not laughable. I’m an alum. Search some of my posts under Wildhack/Babers stuff. I’ve detailed/chronicled all the problems behind the scenes. The Pac-12 S is a joke. Rose Bowls should be the norm. The Pac-12 S with how weak the teams are should vault you right to the top of the country at least in terms of record and positioning yourself towards the playoffs. They get embarassed and overwhelmed by teams like Texas. 113 in the country in Rushing Offense. With top 5 AGGREGATE talent (actually Top 4 currently in number of 4/5* on roster) the past five years you reload. Sam Darnold masked a lot of problems. Players begging/asking for tougher and more detailed practices to the media. The staff of former Conf USA bumpkins refuse to change up any practice habits. Helton hired a QB coach with ZERO experience. Search some of Dan Weber’s writing. He’s one of the most respected beat writers out there. Former player, coach, and trainer.

USC would be one of the handful of jobs I would be very worried about him leaving for.
I said the same and then deleted it. Until they hire somebody that’s the school that makes me very nervous. Don’t think Helton last another year. They need a big personality for that job and Dino is that.

Spot on. He is without a doubt getting fired.

They need to make some sort of statement hire and infuse some life there. NOBODY respects the coaching staff. They already lost two commitments. Cowherd has a lot of connections and follows recruiting nationwide closer than some of the gurus here or on the various sites. He said opposing coaches twice before games against USC texted him that they weren’t worried because the coaching staff is overmatched. Helton can win at Nevada or something but not in the P5. Not when matched up against a Meyer, Saban, Herman, type.

Also, USC is fading in LA. Rams and Chargers are killing it. UCLA has shown improvement week to week with Kelly. LeBron is in LA now. Chargers will be getting the nicest stadium in the NFL soon.

If Babers does leave for SC, Wildhack needs to bring in Sean Lewis ASAP because there will not be a transition as the entire staff will leave with Dino. SC should have kept Coach O.

This is interesting for me with ties to Syracuse and USC. I love both places. I have no doubt that, right now, Syracuse would beat them. Our D Line would destroy those guys. Sort of crazy to think that but I believe it. CURRENT 4/5* players on rosters are: Bama, OSU, Georgia, USC. Clemson 5th.

The campus is in a lousy location. The Colosseum sucks. If you don't win 10 games, the alumni are calling for your head. There are a few great schools to recruit from: LB Poly, De La Salle, Mater Dei and Compton, but that's it. The cost of living and the traffic means you can't live on the beach. When you can make the HOF where you are and be the king of NY, why would anybody take that job?

Hi SoBeCuse - I have lots of ties to both schools as well. Do you really think SC is fading in LA? I think if they turn it around - which they will one way or another - they'll be top dog in that city. The alumni network is so incredible there - coupled with the traditions, cheerleaders, etc.

I think it's the top job in the country. Better than Bama. I may be crazy - but USC has everything going for it - and less competition than elsewhere.

If I was Dino - and they asked me - I'd bolt. He'd absolutely destroy there, unfortunately for us.
