I tried to watch this. Couldn't even get through it. So ugly.

If you throw an eye patch over one eye apparently the re-watch is only half as bad. Might try that Saturday morning.

His throwing inaccuracies are multifaceted (mechanics, timing, anticipation, feel, reads) and are not easily corrected. The offense cannot survive those inaccuracies. And, water is wet. I'm guessing FB is well aware of this. But...there must be a sense within the staff (OC?) that they can"fix" some of that with coaching and continued in-game reps.

No they cani. Too many flaws to fiv in a single season, if ever.
LSU had him for two years and he has all these flaws, I doubt our staff can do it in one , if a guy has high level coaching for three years and still does not get it he probably never will.

I imagine they saw potential. That’s what recruiting is all about. Clearly they felt his issues were fixable.

This is why 5 stars don’t always turn into All Americans, and why All Americans don’t always turn into good professionals. It’s an inexact science, to say the least.

I’m not going to blame SU for bringing the guy in. I suspect lots of P4 programs would have taken him.

All that being said, I’ve watched a lot of football in my life, and at a certain point you get a sense for who’s salvageable and who’s not. I’d be stunned if Collins is salvageable. He has so much wrong, and none of that seems to be getting better.

Knowing the plays and functioning are two different things. You have to be able to understand the defense to run the play and all the parts of the play. Its more than just knowing where to go with the ball.

Some have said here the other QBs dont know the playbook. The rest comes through film study, practice and game experience.
Every good QB has to get that first start at some point.

Some improvement? Yes, in fairness.

He showed some capabilities with respect to deep throws, and a better "feel" with respect to running the ball. Neither of those things had been shown in previous outings.

He also showed some glaring limitations. I don't think the former offsets the latter. My opinion only.

I agree... I think he has been told to only throw to these peeps on this play... etc.. this is the play throw to them. Angellii had the same look too early on... telegraphin plays.. I think there are some more open leash now as a result of criticism in that not all plays fit a player or team too. Or at least I hope so, as an offense or defense needs to adapt to available players, not just blindly force something the team can not execute.

If the current play calling continues... I have no trouble blaming it on the coaching staff. It is time for them to adapt to player strengths not ideals of the coaching staff on perfect play calling and executions. We got talent on the field so use it, it isn't just a QB but how you. use them too as well as every other offensive, or defense player.
