Syracuse Orange (14-0, No. 2): BUY
I'm a big believer in this team. The Orange have a wonderful cocktail of talent, experience and chemistry, and they are heading into their first season in the ACC as the team to beat. Plus, while they will play Duke twice, they only have to play North Carolina once, and that game is at home. The lack of depth concerns me and I don't like that sophomore guard Trevor Cooney shot the ball so poorly in the win over Miami last weekend, but freshman point guard Tyler Ennis has far exceeded expectaitons, and C.J. Fair is as versatile and dependable as they come.

HOW DARE HE!

I don't like the fact that trevir cooney shot the ball so poorly. Profound. Personally, I loved it. I truly don't care if he loves us hates us or is indifferent, he sucks at his job and is painful to read. As a person I'm sure he's a peach.

Seth Davis seems to pick against Cuse just about every game no matter who we're playing. Idiotic shot at Cooney...what player goes through an entire season without a few off shooting nights? He always looks for some negative...unless it's KU or Michigan State.

Explain how that was an "idiotic shot at Cooney". Good God..

Trevir? I thought you were a Rhodes Scholar?

Dusty Rhodes Scholar.

Thank god every non-SU partisan has you there to stand up for them and right society's wrongs.

LOL. Nice

Don't take this the wrong way, ATL, because this isn't so much about you as the trend on our board for some to take every avialable potshot at our fans while straw man defending sports writers who condescend [gasp!] to criticize SU.

Again, my post above wasn't about you so much as just being frustrated by / tired off those types of posts.

LGO!!!

He chose to single out Cooney because he had 1 bad shooting game as a reason to be concerned about Cuse. If he had multiple poor shooting games I could see it.

Right. It's not like he gave up on a game at the half. Just kidding you Mad

Isn't the point of analyzing teams to determine potential weaknesses? Hell, considering this is what he found, I'd say we are in pretty good shape. You also ignore the major props he gives Ennis and Fair.

If Cooney has very off nights shooting the long ball, and especially if Ennis doesn't try to look for his own shot because of it, there is a pretty good chance the game will be tight against decent competition. He is our only true long ball threat and without perimeter shooting, teams will crowd our forwards and try to force them out of the paint.

The Miami game won't be the last time Cooney has an off night either.

Would you prefer he say, "Syracuse has no weaknesses at all and are the favorite to win the championship because of this."?

Edit: Well damn, I would absolutely love it if he said that, but it's not realistic.

Funny thing is, Davis rates Arizona a hold (rationale: if they're not strong title favorites right now, they shouldn't be a buy sell) and Ohio State and Wisconsin each a sell (not clear Final Four teams right now? not a buy or a hold as top-four teams).

Davis rating Syracuse as a buy suggests, by his reasoning, that we're likely better than a #2 team and a favorite to reach the Final Four.

If that's not complimentary, what is?
