He has:

1 Mich. St
2 Kentucky
3 Kansas
4 Louisville
5 Duke
6 Arizona
7 SYRACUSE
8 Michigan
9 Ohio State
10 Carolina
11 Okla. St
12 Florida
13 VCU
14 Memphis
15 Wichita St
16 Marquette
17 Baylor
18 Harvard
19 Creighton
20 Tennessee
21 Notre Dame
22 Iowa
23 Zaga
24 UConn
25 New Mexico

He also has his first team All-America as such:

Marcus Smart, Gary Harris, Mitch McGary, Doug McDermott, and some guy named CJ Fair

Am I the only one who thinks that Doug McDermott is the most overrated player of the last three years? He's a nice player and all, but the fact that he's on his way to being a 3x AP 1st team All American is just crazy.

He's very good, but he definitely seems like Adam Morrison v2.0 to me.

In terms of how he'd do in the NBA? Probably. The guy's offensive numbers are out of this world though. Of course the conference is good but not great.

That's awesome. Maybe it's just me, but CJ Fair is really, really easy to root for. Can't wait to watch him become a year-end 1st team AA.

I'd love to see them in the elite 8 or final 4

Would love 6 rounds in the tournament against west coast teams. Since 2008-09 the west coast has produced little else but garbage. We always seem to hear "this is the year the Pac 10/12 won't suck donkey d***, you'll see!" Until I see otherwise I will just assume the Pac, WCC and MWC all suck.

I should know this but I don't. How many SU players have made first team all America? Maybe Melo and Coleman? Bing?

I read somewhere can't remember, but someone had the BALLS to compare him to Dirk Nowitzki...

Wes Johnson, Hakim Warrick, Carmelo, John Wallace, Billy Owens, Derrick Coleman, Sherman Douglas, Rony Seikaly, Pearl Washington, Dave BIng, Vic Hansen, Leon Marcus, Joseph Schwarzer, Lewis Castle.

Wow. Thanks Joyce!! I didn't realize they were all first team! We've had our share!

Carmelo was second team, not first. David West and Josh Howard were the forwards on first team that year. The reason I know this is how incredibly pissed I was that he didn't get first team.

He should've been player of the year. He didn't even get Big East player of the year, Troy Bell did.

They've come a long way in learning how to vote for the actual best players, in a decade. It wasn't that long ago when a lot of these guys put weight on what year a player was, rather than just voting for the best players. I'd like to think Melo leading us to the title helped put an end to that.

The SU media guide says he was a "consensus All-American" for 2003. They say he was first team Sporting News and second team AP... but describe him as consensus All-American. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Not that I watch a ton of Creighton games, but from the ones I have watched, he was by far the best player on the floor. In last season's tourney Duke held him to 4 of 16 from the field, but he still had 21 points.

Creighton played Final Four caliber Wichita State three times last season, here are McDermott's stats.

@WSU (67-64, L) 10-19 made-attempts, 25 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 fouls, 2 turnovers.
WSU (91-79, W) 15-18 made-attempts, 41 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 fouls, 3 turnovers
MVC Championship WSU (68-65, W) 5-13 made-attempts, 14 points, 4 rebounds, 0 assists, 3 fouls, 2 turnovers

He'll play Big East competition this season, so his performance should either remove or confirm doubts.

He's not the only guy on that list who wasn't a first teamer. They were all AA's on some level at some point, but not all first team.

I listed only those who were "consensus first team" All-Americans and who appeared as first-team on some recognized list. If I had listed all those who were "AAs on some level at some point," the list would have been about 45 players long. It is on pages 174-75 in last year's media guide. Maybe someone can find it on-line.

I'm not saying he's not good or won't have a good NBA career, but I just don't see how he's a top 5 player the last two seasons and this coming one. But you're right, the step up in competition will prove a lot.

He's very good, but he definitely seems like Adam Morrison v2.0 to me.

What's wrong with that though? Morrison was a great college player, as is McDermott. I don't think anyone is touting McDermott as a lottery pick or anything, but he's a great college player.
