Caught Seth Greenberg on Jim Rome today at lunch. Rome asked him how this merger was different than in 2004, and Seth explained he feels that this merger is much more widely accepted, whereas in 2004 only VaTech football was accepted. Anyways, then he drops this:

Virginia Tech basketball is the fourth most successful basketball program in the ACC the past seven years.

Wow...the one program that seems like it is on the bubble every March for the past 7 years is the fourth most successful.

That's how bad the ACC has been in depth. Poor Seth, he just dropped to 6th without playing a game.

Yeah, after Duke and UNC, most of the schools haven't been that good, or they had a few good years and a few bad ones.

It also may not be true. Va Tech is 57-55 in ACC play since they joined. Is that really the 4th best?
