With all of the roster overhaul it seems the buzz on White has died down. I still think he’s a key player on the roster next year. Can he play the 3? Early videos show him having an outside shot. Really hope this kid comes in ready to play from day 1.
I think it’s to the point he’s become underrated. Part of that is by moving to IMG, he didn’t need to be on ball as much and became a dunker. It’s lowered his ranking but has him more prepared to be in a college schedule. We havent had an athlete like him since Grant and he will have a role.

People worry too much about a guy's position. It doesn't matter what position number is next to your name. You play to your skillset on offense and then match up with your counterpart on defense. If there is enough shooting on the floor around him, white may guard the other team's 3 and then I guess he'd be playing the 3.

Billy Owens was slotted as the 4 his junior year even though he was really a 3 and David Johnson played the 3 when he was really a 2. The next year because of sanction related personnel issues, Johnson had to slide to the 4 while Moten played the 3. None of that determined what skills they used on offense, and that was before the era of positionless basketball.

They look close to the same size. Is Saddiq big enough to play inside?

Not sure when that picture was taken as White has spoken about ongoing efforts to get up to 215

Sadiq with two free throws. They looked good. Nice form.

His one 3pt attempt I saw he missed but it was a soft on the rim and form looked decent.

That said the hops on this kid are unreal seeing it in this setting. Once he has a lane to the rim he’s off the ground and it’s over leaving no time even for a contest at the rim. He has good instincts on the offensive and defensive glass as well and I saw him him boxing out at times too. He is going to be a massive threat on the break and for the lob for how fast he is able to separate from his man much like a receiver that has elite quickness.

Does he remind you of Hakeem Warrick at all?

Not since Dirty South.

Wait, are we talking about the same thing? :p

Jerami was our last super freak athlete for hoops.

Let’s hope Diq develops as well as he did, only a lot quicker!!
Problem is, if he develops quicker he might be off to the league after one season. Granted, that would be better than off to the portal after one season.

I saw this one posted only a couple weeks ago. Its description Seems to say it’s including every make from White this season. It gives a good look at his offensive game. He seems to like sneaking to the corner on offense, where he can get open threes (rarely) or wait for dribble penetration so he can cut to the basket to receive lob passes for dunks (frequently). Because his driving ability is strong, a few times he was dared to shoot the three and made it. I wonder how often he’s missing…

White, while not getting really big rebounding numbers is still 9th in the league in rebounding. He snatches offensive rebounds out of the air. A couple plays, he just outworks or outmuscles bigger players for offensive rebounds and goes back up.

He shows unexpected strength on several drives where he displaces the defender to create space. The example at 8:56 mark was very Warrick like. Uses The finger roll well too. If George is half as good a passer as his IMG pg is, Sadiq will be a force.

Continuing my newfound obsession with standing reach, I found this nugget in a recruiting site. I’m starting to wonder if things like “standing reach” and “wingspan” are going to become like 40 times in football… If it isn’t measured by the NBA or your own eyes, caveat emptor.

That aside, White being comparatively short, still very young, and already with a nearly 9’ standing reach further reinforces why he is such a highly recruited player.

“Beyond his leaping ability, White is also a versatile athlete. He moves with pace and force, covering the court and playing through contact with increasing frequency. Physically, he has the length to match his athleticism with a nearly 7-foot wingspan and 8-foot-11 standing reach.”
