Yes Ok GIF by Rockwell Trading

I have no idea lol

247 has added doty to their portal database. rated him a 4 star transfer with a grade of 92.
Spot on with what I thought!
Interested to see where they rate Doty as a transfer, but with his advanced metrics, should easily grade out to be a 4 star transfer. For context, he would've been the 4th best player on this past Syracuse team according to Evan Miya.

I won't be disappointed at all if he's coming here to be the 7th or 8th man.

I will be disappointed if he's Gerry's JJ Starling and he's getting 30 minutes a game while we're losing winnable games next season.
I hope we get the 3 Siena guys, keep maybe 4, then recruit about 5 guys from high school and the portal that are better than all of them. Let the best players win the PT.

Me too - I will also be disappointed if Kiyan is getting 30 minutes a game next year and we are losing winnable games when better options are available.

Guess we will have to wait and see how it all plays out.

from looking at Doty's performance vs. Duke and his season long stats I don't think Doty is coming to SU to come off the bench. Don't see us getting 3-4 Siena transfers. I really like Foleac. He looks like a starting power forward to me. Could really use a high level center if we can afford one as well as PG.

yes he does want to get into coaching after he hangs them up overseas. is there still a grad asst thing?

Good question I’m not sure. I also was just speculating given his recent very pro orange X activity. I do think his fiancé/wife is from Europe so wasn’t expecting he would be in a rush but who knows.

Very solid NBA role player. Known for his defense, hustle, and will occasionally shock people with his athleticism.

Doty has been a very good defender at Siena.
Not according to certain advanced stats that attempt to take into account the level of competition. Those have him at average, dBPM says .02, which is barely above neutral defensively. But he has a PER of 22.2 and a BPM of 4.1, they seem to think he can hang with major college level of play. After a few years of looking at advanced stats, the defensive ones are weaker than offensive, and I strongly doubt how they adjust for level of competition across the board. But we only have data until we see him in action. But I can't stress enough that an 18 ppg guy on Siena with a .57 TS% and .326 3pt% is not a guy who you want to build your team around. He might not even be a starter quality player on a good ACC team. I'll be happy to have him if he is the 3rd SF/SG, but if he is starting, it means we didn't recruit this portal as well as we should. There's a reason he was at Siena and not, say, Syracuse, Virginia Tech or UConn.

On the other hand, his actual college performance is highly regarded:

"Current Status (March 2026)
Following a breakout sophomore season where he averaged 18 points per game and earned MAAC Tournament MVP honors, Doty's profile has risen significantly. As of March 25, 2026, he has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and is currently ranked as the No. 10 overall transfer and the No. 3 shooting guard in the country by 247Sports"

Doty "dropped" 21 on Duke on 20 shots. If he's taking 20 shots for us next year we are in huge trouble.

There are like 10 guys in the portal as of now.
What were Kiyan’s shots per minute

He has to adapt his game in a different role that won’t be a go to option. He is more suited to be like a sophomore version of a Donte DiVincenzo where he can do a lot of things but he’s not a primary option at least not to start the year should he improve playing at this level to have bigger role being tbd.

All I can say for now is that when GMac was officially hired on Tuesday, I texted Adam and asked him if he would support Syracuse basketball and GMac, if GMac asked him for support. Adam's response: "Maybe" with a smiley face emoji. Time will tell.
