Class of 2024 SG Gavin Doty (NY) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/7/26)

Shocked Sesame Street GIF

He and AW developed a close relationship since AW paid his NIL last year.
There was a grateful tweet from Doty to AW about that, thanking him for his ability to play and go to the NCAAT.
AW also went to the Duke/ Siena game to support them.

He was supposed to be paying a hefty NIL to keep him at Siena this upcoming year.
I wonder if he will still pay his NIL since he is now at Syracuse.

I know this isn’t at all the exact same situation, but this is giving me Fran/Mccord vibes. Year 1, grab the culture setter for under market rates due to relationship. Huge!
I get what you’re saying regarding culture. But a McCord comparison is a stretch. Sounds like he’ll do great though.

Yes, he will still be helping with NIL. I do not know exacts; just know he will still be involved with Gavin. Hopefully/maybe that means for others too.

Going to be a big jump. But the kid had efficient stats at volume at Siena. Clear reason why he had so many accolades. Even if they dip a bit and he's a rotation guy, it seems like his efficiency would travel, just at a lower volume.

Keep adding size, keep working on the three, keep being efficient and thank god you can hit FTs my man.

Between the ACs, MMM and now Doty, we have a nice streak of building this program back. Let's keep it rolling.

I believe he had dinner with GMac after the Duke/Siena game, too.

Seems to me that in his last game, he made the jump pretty easily. I might be wrong.

Yikes. I get that you like Gerry and are close to AW and know about these players, but in my 50 years as a Cuse fan, if those words regarding three or four Siena players were ever previously uttered it would be considered insanity. And to be clear, you are a great poster here and this is not meant disrespectfully.
I thought the key part of his statement was "recruit five guys from high school or the portal better than any of them."

If Doty is our fifth best starter, we might be ok. If he's our sixth man, we'll probably be pretty good. If Doty is that the back end of our rotation getting the ninth most minutes, we will probably be great.

If Dodie is one of our best players, we're Siena, but playing in the ACC.

But who knows maybe he takes a leap. Nobody expected Dalton Knecht to transfer to Tennessee and play his way into the lottery when he transferred out of a mid major. Johni Broome either.

But there are several hundred mid major stars who go to a major college and are benchwarmers for every guy who becomes an All American lottery pick.

Totally agree, not the same like I mentioned, but I think you feel me on the parallels! It’s just an all out win for cuse bball on every front. Local kid getting the fan base involved even more, Gerry’s culture can bleed over, a proven motor on the court, and a damn good player that will only get better. He is trending up and up each year at Siena and I expect him to do the same going into next year. To be honest I think some people are taking him for granted big time, kinda playing it off as just a local who played for Gerry so obviously he would come here and we will see if he can play at this level…. I think he will surprise a lot of people. So pumped for him to be in orange!
