These numbers for these kids are insane. Nonsensical. Not faulting them, but I kind of find it sad these wastes of resources.Well Devo said today Betsey was around $800,000. Doty will provide more than he did in effort alone.

Question how sustainable it all isThese numbers for these kids are insane. Nonsensical. Not faulting them, but I kind of find it sad these wastes of resources.
One million percent. Needs to change sadThese numbers for these kids are insane. Nonsensical. Not faulting them, but I kind of find it sad these wastes of resources.
Just a fyi for those that have been downplaying his ability and worth...Illinois wanted him bad and made a substantial offer. Whatever you think that offer was I'd double it and your probably in the ballpark. Kinda surprised he turned it down but that shows the character and type of kid he is.
So, you don't want the kids to be able to make any money? Do you think artists shouldn't be able to profit from their work? Engineers? Scientists? One million percent. Needs to change sad
Except NIL isn’t profits. nil is good. NIL bad.So, you don't want the kids to be able to make any money? Do you think artists shouldn't be able to profit from their work? Engineers? Scientists?
Until five years ago, only old white guys got to make money off college sports, and a "certain type of fan" is angry that the players are now getting a share of the pie...
Is it just that change is hard, or do you actually believe the players don't deserve to share in profits?
I hate this argument it’s dumb and lazy. Nobody disagrees they should make money but the way the system is now is dumb. All the money should be coming from the universities not universities asking fans and donors to fund their teams. It should not be relied on what school has the most donors that is just stupid. So, you don't want the kids to be able to make any money? In a free market, players are worth what people are willing to pay. Capitalism baby! These numbers for these kids are insane. Nonsensical. Not faulting them, but I kind of find it sad these wastes of resources.
This is such a weird situation. Because, the entity that benefits the most from the players doesn't even foot the bill. They pass it along to the fans. Or, maybe the entity that benefits the most IS the fans. It's just so out of whack. I miss when a $50 handshake was the extent of the cheating. In a free market, players are worth what people are willing to pay. Capitalism baby!
Sure, the system is terrible, like most current economic systems under late stage capitalism. The rich get richer, and the rest pay their money for the bread and circuses. This is such a weird situation. Because, the entity that benefits the most from the players doesn't even foot the bill. My issue is that these universities make millions and it’s us the fans and donors that cough up most of the money. How about the money these schools make from tickets and conference pay more. Us fans shouldn’t be finding itThis is such a weird situation. Because, the entity that benefits the most from the players doesn't even foot the bill. They pass it along to the fans. Do you understand that SU paid the players $20.5M this season? My issue is that these universities make millions and it’s us the fans and donors that cough up most of the money. How about the money these schools make from tickets and conference pay more. Us fans shouldn’t be finding it
We could take the deep dive into this, but this is not the place for it. It always helps when people can see through the fog (see what I did there?) and identify the ACTUAL issue(s).Sure, the system is terrible, like most current economic systems under late stage capitalism. The rich get richer, and the rest pay their money for the bread and circuses.
Holding up here...The OP was talking about how the university should be the only one paying athletes in general. As we know, the university is forced to share revenue with the athletes. The allocation of those payments is up to the university. It is not split between "ALL of the sports" and there is no obligation to do so. You are correct about fund raising to off set some of the what they are obligated to pay. That portion is falling to the fans.Hold up, that is divided among ALL of the sports. AND, they have fundraisers to raise that money and offset what is actually paid BY the university, no?
My biggest issues is that a millionaire donor can buy a teamHolding up here...The OP was talking about how the university should be the only one paying athletes in general. Unless it’s OUR millionaire donor. My biggest issues is that a millionaire donor can buy a team
I hear you. Unfortunately, that is new reality. My biggest issues is that a millionaire donor can buy a team
No I don’t even like that. It waters down winning it.Unless it’s OUR millionaire donor.![]()
You can’t win without it anymore. Maybe when it’s a group of millionaires it seems less off putting? Crazy times. No I don’t even like that. It waters down winning it.
It IS at the discretion of each university to disperse the $20.5MM to whichever of ALL the sports they wish. And, I am not arguing with you, all of this just helps to point out what a jumbled mess all of this is. And, for me, it shows what an incredibly terrible job the NCAA has done at staying in front of all of this.Holding up here...The OP was talking about how the university should be the only one paying athletes in general. I think this is what we lacked under red. We had guys like bell, kingz, Betsy and they barely moved off the ball. When your a shooter you need to be moving constantly and Doty gets thatBack to Doty, what impressed me during the Duke game was how much he moved without the ball, never stopped. I asked myself, is he better than JJ already? Would he run circles around Kiyan?
