Class of 2024 SG Gavin Doty (NY) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/7/26)

It IS at the discretion of each university to disperse the $20.5MM to whichever of ALL the sports they wish. And, I am not arguing with you, all of this just helps to point out what a jumbled mess all of this is. And, for me, it shows what an incredibly terrible job the NCAA has done at staying in front of all of this.
For sure about the NCAA.

I can tell you with certainty that the revenue share hit, combined with loss of revenue from poor attendance for both football and BB, has been a major wake up call for the university. They are trying to offset some of that loss after the fact. BB has his work cut out for him. Fortunately, fund raising and innovative problem solving is his wheelhouse. Game days are going to look different next season.

Winning programs bring in money that’s as simple as that. If your programs won everything is okay

I'm excited about the changes, that's for sure. How the previous administration didn't see the decline in attendance coming is amazingly negligent. It isn't even ticket sales, it is the loss of a generation. Their lack of awareness could cost Syracuse athletics a seat at the big boy table. I can't even imagine that crap that Wildhack has had to deal with during his tenure. Actually, I do know a little. But, hopefully BB and Company have the wherewithal to navigate this and get us back on track.

We are a big basketball brand and I expect the country to start realizing that again soon

I think this is what we lacked under red. We had guys like bell, kingz, Betsy and they barely moved off the ball. When your a shooter you need to be moving constantly and Doty gets that
A coach is supposed to be able to get their guys to do that. Thankfully I think we finally have one that can do it

One of my friends was with Doty's father tonight. I honestly don't know what it entails. But, I love how the Syracuse community is coming together.

I thought the key part of his statement was "recruit five guys from high school or the portal better than any of them."

If Doty is our fifth best starter, we might be ok. If he's our sixth man, we'll probably be pretty good. If Doty is at the back end of our rotation getting the ninth most minutes, we will probably be great.

If Doty is one of our best players, we're Siena, but playing in the ACC.

But who knows, maybe he takes a leap. Nobody expected Dalton Knecht to transfer to Tennessee and play his way into the lottery when he transferred out of a mid major. Johni Broome either.

But there are several hundred mid major stars who go to a major college and become benchwarmers for every guy who becomes an All American lottery pick.
Do you think Doty is better than JJ?

Let's let JJ go. They will have two different coaches. JJ had his strengths and weaknesses, as will Gavin. I am sure nobody will be happier than JJ, if Syracuse basketball gets back to where we should be.

Dotys constant movement enables him to get very unexpected rebounds
I lost track how many rebounds he would grab when a moment earlier he was nowhere close. Announcers remarked on it often - the where the hell did he come from rebound!
