Class of 2026 SG Jordan Smith Jr. (VA) Offered [Announcing 2/13]

It seems our lack of HS recruits is irrelevant now anyways as the staff is unlikely to be here next year.

Next year’s team will definitely need to be made up of transfers and whoever the new staff can/wants to retain from this team.

Totally agree. A lack of HS recruits is a bummer from an optics standpoint, but with the staff potentially gone, plus the number of current players who could return if the staff did stay in place, it really isn't a big deal. I'd also agree that Syracuse has little to no shot at getting Smith.

Sorry not having any committed recruits isn't a big deal? In portal season "the number of current players who could return" means absolutely nothing. Any team could poach our guys.

At least you're finally admitting we have no shot at getting him.

Portal is huge but having no commits is a sign that no one believes in red or the program. Its also going to make Kline and the new coaches job even harder to.strike gold in the portal.

No sane recruit is going to commit to a program that is clearly in limbo with a (most likely) lame duck coach. Doesn’t matter if a kid believes in Cuse/Red or not because of that reality.

While paying a kid a lot of money might close the gap some, I think most will still want to know who he’s playing for before committing. We can’t offer that.

Completely agree which is why we should have made the move last year.

Lol. You love to be combative with me, my friend. If you don't agree with my opinions, all good. And I've never said that Syracuse was a favorite to land Smith. And I'm well aware of how the portal works!!!

This whole thread was you saying "we're in the mix". I understand you gotta get your clicks, but we were never really in the mix to land him. Maybe we were in the mix to have one of the 5 hats on the table.

Kyle can’t come back but they are confident kingz will get another year. The offense is humming with Donnie now and it frustrates me because he missed so much time. This roster has always been good but they need him for his leadership and abilities obviously. They were lost without him. And it looked like Red was lost too. They catered their whole offense around Donnie and to lose him for that time stunk for everyone
No Kyle will kill us

Buddy, Syracuse has been in the mix. That's my opinion, based on talking to sources both inside and outside the program for a long time about Smith's recruitment. If you disagree, just disagree. I would appreciate you not saying inaccurate things about me: I don't cover Syracuse sports for clicks. I do it because I love it. You have no idea what my compensation is. You also clearly don't read my work, and that's fine. But seriously: State your opinion about Smith, and leave all the other nonsense out of the discussion. Thanks.

Have you met bnoro? Board legend, but his next post agreeing with someone, complimenting someone, or posting a feel good story may be one of his few. I enjoy seeing the ribbing of him when it happens. :)

Don’t take it personally. There’s a lot of frustration on the board due to the state of the program and our inability to land any recruits. You have a job to do and whether or not we have a realistic chance of landing Jordan, as long as he keeps us in the mix and hasn’t officially dropped us, you can or should report it.

I said a long time ago that he has relationships with coaches in our program, so he is keeping us in the mix even though we have very little or no chance of getting him.

I’d say our chances would have been better had we played well and had a better record as the season went on - Red would look competent and his job secure, along with the job of his assistants, and Donnie would be in the mix as a lottery pick. But, that’s not our reality.

Again, I'm sure we were 'in the mix' to be considered. But our staff has been lame duck for two years. I'm not surprised your sources inside the program were trying to spin any positivity they could.

FYI. The reference was to inside and outside sources.
