Class of 2025 SG Kiyan Anthony (NY) Offered [Announcing 11/15 7 PM]

On a golf trip years ago one of the guys said that we had to spend the weekend using our Porn star names which I learned was the combination of the first street that you lived on and the name of your first pet. So, for the entire weekend I was known as Holly Fennell. Not good:)

All things aside I’ve never understood the “4 seasons” thing
Me either. We live within three hours(of all seasons too) of anything you'd want to do inside or outside. Hiking, skiing, surfing, fishing outside. Any art, sports, music you are into is here. The weather is generally always perfect. We don't have 3 or more months of depressing clouds or stifling heat, or bugs everywhere. I can't imagine living anywhere else, but different strokes.

Hmm: Spooky Pendergast doesn’t have much of a ring to it.

Oh boy, Country Manor Miyagi sounds like a superstar!

Chances he commits next weekend?
I dont think its going to be a sudden commitment as far as announcement or publicly. He’s going to want an official news conference or do it during an nba game or somewhere pretty mainstream

I think what jdubs was asking was whether that visit will be the final domino before the announcement.

Surprisingly Syracuse has more players who have played in the NBA (56) than USC (48) and Auburn (30).
How is that surprising? Those programs can’t hold a candle to Syracuse historically.

One of my best friends who currently lives in LA and grew up in Miami ended up picking Syracuse over USC. Just my 2 cents, but college kids are more focused on selecting schools based on campus life where we as adults are looking at the entire picture of a place. 18 year olds aren’t picking a place to live permanently.
Besides, USC basketball is an afterthought in LA. Stars want to play where they’re going to be the star attraction.

Right. I’ve done my time on the east coast. Grew up in Delaware, HS in Ohio on the ‘snow belt,’ four years of oppressive, malevolent, barbaric Syracuse weather, and 25 in Manhattan. Sure, every year, there are a dozen days of ‘transition’ weather, where it’s just magical, and things smell and look a certain way, and those are memorable.

But, after living in LA and San Diego+ for the last 12 years, I can honestly say that there has never been a day where I woke up and wished it were 45 degrees instead of 78.

There’s never a day when I reject an opportunity to do something because the weather is ugly. After I started going to Brazil and leaving Rio and a stunning 90 degrees to fly back to gray, slushy NYC and its 15 degrees, where you have to protect your body from the outdoors, and your skin dries up from the fake heat indoors… I got more sensitive to the cold, mentally and just refused to go out if the temps were below 30….

That all said, and with my previous ‘defense’ of LA, I also did say that kids are choosing a 1-3 year preparatory environment and weather is not likely to be the decision maker. Heck, out of high school I wanted to go to USC, but chose Syracuse because SU had Newhouse. Weather is (just) a bullet point.

My son went to USC undergrad and grad. It is 5 minutes from where the Lakers play. Downtown has become a new place to live with good restaurants. It is a really nice campus. Yes for the alumni base and connections. Syracuse doesn't come close, and I am someone who was involved for years with SU alumni relations in a volunteer position. The light rail (built and opened right after my son graduated) takes you to Culver City and Long beach. Both have a great vibe, restaurants etc. Personally, I have been worried about USC from day 1. Oh, and there is that weather thing...
It's interesting people think Syracuse has anything really comparable to LA in terms of what a young man his age may deem valuable. Especially with the Lakers and Bronnie up the road. Unless Melo donates to some NIL, I don't think we could compete there either.

Sorry, how many players have we had drafted since 2018?
ONE.

USC?
Eight.

UNC? Seven. Duke? 20.
I couldn't even tell you the player drafted and I miss as many games in a decade as people do a season.

And yet during that Golden Era of USC basketball they still have two losing seasons and less tournament wins than us during that time. Truly a powerhouse you’re talking about there.
Not the promise land, but it's not a bad destination.

My favorite place on the planet is the mountains of Colorado as I love to ski, Climb and raft, fish and hunt. Anything outdoors. 300 days of bright Sun and the most spectacular scenery you can imagine. The traffic in SO Cal would drive me insane and I have a hard time with the fake bs of the people. I could cope in San Diego but would be miserable in LA.

Fake bs of the people? Stop watching Kardashians and cartoonish stereotypes. As an adult, who you deal with and surround yourself with is up to you. People I knew there were just as real/authentic/grounded as anywhere else I’ve ever lived. There are negatives you can say about people from anywhere. My time in the Midwest, for example—it would be just as ridiculous for me to apply the ‘racist’ tag just because of what I experienced in high school.

Half the people in “LA” are from every other state.
