Class of 2026 SG Mark Morano Mahmutovič (Slovenia) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/6/26)

Haven’t watched any of the videos, but I’m getting Buddy 2.0 vibes from some of these posts. Please tell me he’s bringing more to the party than a jumper!

Y'all aughta watch the videos then.

His 1-man fast break with the fake pass into Euro-step finish was absurd.
Buddy couldn't even dream of making any part of that play.

Why are we so optimistic that A) Kingz is magically going to get a waiver and B) He wants to stay here. This waiver stuff never works out for us.

If he doesn't get a waiver my post is the same. Go find another 2 that can shoot. Need lights out shooters at the 2/3.

Impressive shooter. Hopefully they can work on his weaknesses of poor defense and no rebounding this summer when he gets to Syracuse. If not, he could end up as another, Chris Bell or Kiyan Anthony.

Need to improve those areas, otherwise it is right to the NBA.
Already more he brings than those two. The culture and coaching will determine the other factors.

You don't have to sell me on that but I have said from the beginning that the 2G will be Doty/Anthony combo.

Watched video -didn't see "jump" in any 3M jumpers(?)
Hopefully can also hit 3's when needing to elevate over his defender, vs depending on PG to create spot-up 3's.
Regardless, liking what GMac is doing so far with his staff hires and this commitment-
All-in for the McNamERA!

Very excited about this pickup. I could see Kingz at the 2 and this kid at the 3. If we don't get Kingz back, I think we've got to find someone out of the portal to fill the 2 because I just don't know if we can afford him at the 3 with Kiyan/Doty at the 2. Good problem to have at this point though.

Incredible pick up out the jump by GMac and co.

Between the ACs he's secured and now this, he's doing wonderfully.

We need to stop worrying about "2" vs "3". If we have Kingz and MMM on offense w're going to see driving lanes we haven't seen in years. On D, Kingz will bear more on ball burden, get MMM on someone he can functionally stay with, plus I would wager our defensive system will be much more democratized in spreading out responsibility. And the fact that MMM has strength (even if limited lateral quickness) means he can be diversified in where we stick him on D.

Love that he can use or reject a screen going EITHER direction. That means when he is in action, the whole floor is open to us.

MMM, Kingz, Kiyan and Doty can all play. I know it seems like it may be a logjam, but if we are getting this type of talent, we'll be able to put together different combos of who we have on the floor and in the rotation.

But I think we should think more wing/off ball than "2" vs "3".

Yep this is why while smaller - I’d love a Wilkinson or Blyden at the point because the lanes they could have make them even more dangerous. I know we want a pass first PG but if that PG can’t put pressure on a defense as a true scoring threat then it’s already an uphill battle. George was so tentative to force the action teams gave him space and we played like we did with Carlos. Even guys like the Mingo brothers that aren’t true shooters are aggressive on both ends and don’t make it easy on a defense.

When you combine those pieces together everyone eats and makes out better and it’s way easier to execute your offense without having such a handicap like both George and JJ were.

Literally could not agree more.

Everyone uses the high pick and roll to get into their offense... if you don't have someone that can be aggressive coming off that screen... it's basically worthless (at last for a team looking to be competing at a top 25 level or make noise in the tourney).

And without being in zone 100%, you can get by with some smaller guys in terms of height, if they have a strong core/base and/or long arms and can body guys and make them work, it's ok.

Have to think this kid is an automatic starter at the 2 or 3. Those worried about the dreaded Doty/Anthony pairing on the wing can take a deep breath.
This kid is not a starter. He is a good 7th/8th man and I will stand by that. Come back to this take during the season

So gmac is on the job 2 weeks and pulls this off. Autry couldnt secure a recruit for 2026 in a whole calendar year.
Not fair to Autry. Autry was labeled as a lame duck coach at the beginning of the year. No recruit was coming here to play when the current coach was not going be there.

Love this pickup and great to see G-Mac and Syracuse dip their toes into the international market.

We can argue over Kiyan and Sadiq's potential all we want, the reality is the teams with the best odds in March this year were filled with upperclassmen and European pros. If we want to be serious contenders next season and moving forward, additions like this are the way to go.
