My lasting memory- and I’ve never rewatched it (too painful) is that Cuse had a bit more time but Derrick froze getting the ball inbounds and maybe two seconds went by before he inbounded. By the time he threw it in it was too late… maybe 1 second. Cuse was soooo close to three titles (they’d have won if Arinze didn’t go down). Sigh.

If Sims doesn’t get hurt against Kentucky, (I think he was out for about 5 minutes and their lead doubled, or close to it) we had a good chance to win that game as well.

Oats left UB in March 2019. Buddy had just finished his freshman season at that time. As we know, JB coached 4 more years after Oats left UB. I don't think there was ever an opportunity for Oats to be hired at SU short of forcing JB out with his son on the team.

There was never a realistic opportunity for "what could have been" with Oats.
