They have limited spots and the plan was to only take one guy at that spot. At least according to that article. If he waits and hopes for someone else to leave so he can go there, he is taking an awful risk and might lose his chance to go to Syracuse, where he has been our top priority at SG for a long time now.

He was never UVA’s top priority. That should matter. At this point, the smart move is to take the SU offer and make UVa pay for liking that WV kid more.

St. Anne’s Belfield guard Justin Taylor is the only other recipient of a 2022 offer so far. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out with him going forward. Isaac McKneely’s commitment definitely complicates things. Both were essentially being recruited for one spot. Virginia obviously has built in advantages with the Charlottesville native. And the coaching staff likes him a lot. But they also have other needs and limited space right now. It might depend on how things shake out with potential transfers.
