After today's game against Pitt, Cooney has now made 11 of 45 three point attempts, a .244 clip, in ACC play.

On the season he is making 41% of his three point attempts.

It seems obvious to me that Coonery is WAY more effective when he he set and shoots stepping into his shot (like his fist 3 today, and the 3 on the run-out in the 2nd half). Too often he tries to create an open look by shooting while he is moving. I think he gets frustrated looking for his shot when other teams are guarding him so closely.

Have to give you credit Grotto - yours' are made of brass

Last year he would have missed anything he was leaning on or off motion and it led to his feet not being set alot I think. This year he can hit a three with a slight fade left or right off motion. But he isn't getting enough slow relaxed releases right before the top of his jump with a smooth instead of twitching release the last 5-6 games.

With Raks hook in the post and passing skills the last few games, would love to see him isolate and find Cooney on the high ball screen at the top of the three point line. We finally have the mid low post guy with a back to the basket hook that can pass that ball back out. Rak has found a open Cooney as many times as Ennis this year imo.

That actually hit some similar to the corner in the 1st half
Looked like they were trying to do the same thing late in the game and they doubled and Rak got a little flustered.

Agreed though with the premise. His looks on these curls against better teams are not very good...which all along was my concern.
Also, think we might want to go back door to him early in the game to get them thinking on D. Right now they are just chasing him to the 3 pt line.

Just so people understand - the Shaky Potatoes Tracker makes no judgment as to Cooney's play. It is merely a statistical observation.
Then email your friends.

He doesn't need a microscope,

Nobody does.

Cooney trying to get open resulted in robinsons 3rd foul. Also could have drawn more. Cooney should have been 2-5.. 3 of those he went hunting a little too hard. That makes pitt work on d.

You've been playing too much Madden, UEO. A post on the board isn't a microscope. That kind of logic is expected from PlayStation Nation, but not from you.

Cooney demands a lot of attention from the defense. It's not all about makes and misses.

This, this, this. As long as they keep a guy in his face 30 feet away, then it is 4 on 4, which makes it easier for slashers like CJ, JG, and TE.

You lost me.

A post singling out his stats, based on a long ago post labeling, and putting his stats through some sort of test, is unnecessary and playstationesque.

I usually like your posts, sorry for the critique.

I just think its setting him up to be a fall guy.

And that's wrong.

And yet that dumbass coach continues to play him the whole 2nd half pretty much.
Just to reiterate - the Shaky Potatoes Tracker makes no judgment as to Cooney's play. It is merely a statistical observation.

Addendum: The Shaky Potatoes Tracker makes no judgment as to Jim Boeheim's coaching related to Cooney's play, which the Shaky Potatoes Tracker does not judge.

Feels like his form has reverted to last year's in a couple of recent games for whatever reason. We've seen more of that one-handed dominate/pushed shot and more fading off to the side.

He'll be fine and has been contributing in other ways.

Are u starting to get it??

I thought a poster on this board was given the moniker 'shakey potatoes' not the *player* himself. The *player* who plays hard every second of every game on both sides of the court. This is really getting old. This will be the last thread I post in where 'shakey potatoes' is in the thread title. LGO!

Ahem. We won the game. I thought that was what it is all about.

No, what it's about is, "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women."

Do you have a tracker for lost defensive rebounds by each player today? Or a tracker for how many times CJ can shake and bake and turn the ball over? Maybe a tracker for balls that go off Baye's hands? Or a tracker for when Grant pirouette's into the lane out of control and comes up empty?

We won. It's a team game and they all contributed. Ennis was today's star and is the only thing that should stand out.

Funny thread. Always has to be some player.
