Shot selection...

I thought Joe's shot when we were up 3 with 5 minutes left was the worst shot I had seen taken in years by an SU player considering game condition at the time (and the two matador defensive trips Joe executed after the miss). However, not much later Griffin pulled the offensive board, dribbled to the corner and fired a fadeaway three was without a doubt the worst shot attempt I have ever seen. Both guys remind me of the guy you hated to be teamed with in pick up. You knew you were going to have to do the grunt work and only touch the ball if you rebounded it.

Buddy’s shot selection is fine, IMO.

Buddy's shot selection reminds me of a quote from Chauncey Billups that I saw when I was growing up (paraphrasing at this point because it's been so long): "If you're a great shooter and you can get to your shot's release before the defender's hand is up, it's a good shot no matter how closely guarded you are." He's a good enough shooter that I don't really care what shots he's taking.

Girard definitely is not at that level and Griffin is still figuring out if he can be.

Yeah, I don’t mind Griffin having a quick trigger when his feet are set and he’s got a look.

But the play where I think he got an offensive rebound, and like dribbled it back out to the corner and immediately turned and fired? It looked like a last second desperation shot where we need a 3 to tie! That was insane. Cut the turnovers and insane shots like that out, and he’ll be fine. Don’t mind him being a “normal” gunner. If that makes sense, lol.

That shot was indeed insane lol. I'm wondering if he thought he was about to be called for out of bounds because he dribbled the ball inbounds, then seemingly took 1 or 2 steps out of bounds without touching the ball, and then came back in and just threw the ball up.

He rushed a shot on a run out three as well. Could have taken a dribble and gotten a step closer. A little worried he wants to show he can hit the NBA three.

I think he’s gotta realize that this isn’t the 2000s or even early 10s NBA.

They love athletic wings who can guard multiple positions, can hit the 3, and are ultra efficient on offense playing off the ball. That’s his ticket.

Trying to be the creator and go to guy...nah. He doesn’t have that, and he doesn’t need to.

Agree and if the coaches can't get that through, maybe he has a family member with some knowledge on that topic who can talk to him. Hint hint dad!

Its one thing to take a poor shot.

It’s another to do so as nonchalantly as Girard seemed to lol

Some of those literally looked like he was hucking up a three while bored playing his little cousins at a family reunion.

Girard should have been yanked last night.
Wonder if he would've if Buddy was healthy? Doubt it based on the leash he's had so far in his career but never had another capable guard on the bench to bring in.

Yes, watching those shots caused me pain.

100pct he would have, once Buddy is back, it should be Kadary and Buddy getting 90pct of the pt.

Yeah, he had one drive where he finished with his left hand that was really nice, but otherwise, creating for himself was not working out.

JB will start Girard the next game, but he will not wait very long to pull him if he doesn't see any improvement.

He has said that Kadary is a work in progress. He isn't capable of long minutes at this point, but he'll be in there if JG doesn't get his act together.

Crispy loved the 30 footer. I say we are not shooting deep enough. Let’s start chucking over half court. Other team won’t know how to handle it
He was a chucker, so ya.

If Joe does get bumped out of the starting lineup, which is looking like more of a possibility with each game, I hope he embraces the 6th man role. He would be as explosive of a scorer off the bench as anyone in the country.

He’s too good and too much of a dog not to get his ish together. Losing in faith in the kid at this point is dumb

We look like an AAU team. We dont actually have an offensive scheme. We take turns chucking 3s. We are an organized mess.
I guess that’s still an improvement over the last 6 years.

Let’s not get carried away. He’s a streaky shooter and we play 4 on 5 defensively.

Yeah - nice board, then sprint to corner for a no-look turnaround 3?
WTAF??

After we (briefly) took the lead, it then became JGIII vs AG in a bizarro-world game of HORSE -
Who can take the more ridiculous hero shot?
The other 3 guys were basically being ignored by those two.
