Realistically I don't see a death penalty for PSU and they will still have a team throughout our scheduled series. Should SU send a message? Or is it best SU stay away from that for several reasons (Bernie Fine, Needing an Opponent that Helps Sell Tickets in the Dome and MetLife, Let the NCAA Decide as SU needs to stay out of this...)

Marrone and O'Brien are friends. Don't see it happening.

The only reason you would consider doing this is if somehow you believed that playing PSU in football was some sort of endorsement of the Sandusky/Paterno crimes.

I know people who refuse to buy German and Japanese cars.

I think we can "spin" this one by saying we are endorsing PSU's "New Direction".

By the way, suppose some teams refused to schedule SU in basketball because of our embarrassing situation there. Wouldn't that be the same thing?

Townie huggggggggggggge massive difference between Bernie's situation (still innocent until proven guilty) and psu situation. I don't think I put enough g's in huge.

While I think there is a HUGE difference too, I'm not sure that folks around the country view it the same way. They have a passive awareness of SU's Fine situation. They know only the allegations and scandal. I'm afraid it would come off as extremely hypocritical if SU were to back out of playing PSU.

There is no good answer.

No way, who are you gong to replace them with Stonybrook?

If their institution didn't cover up child rape for 2 decades...sure. Bring 'em on.

let it play out a bit. If the statue stays up and no death penalty for at least one year then, yes, bag it.

sorry there will be nothing short of the death penalty for psu. their biggest worry at this point will be the big10----no, we should not drop them. as one writer said make them play and donate all the their proceeds to a child abuse charity for the next 5 years.

no,not in the long run as well as public opinion--

Aside from a possible death penalty there's also the possibility of a TV ban. A TV ban will kill the game and will force postponement (for a number of years) and the required search for a replacement. A postponement opens the door for SU to suggest that the whole series be scrapped.

WOWWWW!!!! HOLY stuff ......We have S.U.fans willing to help out ped.st. with some financials.

ped st. higher ups have no clue to what happened is wrong.

Cancel the series. I wasn't certain Until yesterday's PSU BOT comments. They haven't
LEarned a thing. The statue clearly must come down. If they can't get that right, PSU is in deeeep trouble. If all of their OOC scheduled opponents refuse to play them, maybe then they would get the picture right?

No, unless of course PSU doesnt have a varsity team next year.

I am looking forward to ESPN's coverage of the Molestation Bowl, brought to you by the Bergen County Office for Children. Rather then the routine frisks of fans, all coaches will be subject to additional fingerprinting and background checks.

Very good post Cuseman. I really couldnt believe the BOT in fact i had to read it twice to make sure i got it correct. It is beyond me how they have handled this. I would think that eventually the State Gov may have to jump in. I truly thought that Joe would come down that they would impose sanctions on the program etc... I was shocked as i believe most of the country is. They should all be fired.

What is interesting to me is that of all the programs that shouldnt ever throw stones Nebraska is right at the top of the list. Osborne allowed so much to occur under his watch that i wouldnt be surprised if something like this happened at Nebraska not even a little. Between Peterson and other criminals that he turned a blind eye to i think that Nebraska has had more kids make the prison system than the pros. Pelini of all people should know this. Im all for taking the high road but Nebraska calling any program out even Ped State is a total joke
I don't think espn ever showed this. Pelini didn't think Nebraska - PedSt game should have been played.

You are coming recruiting violations to a 13+ year run of sexual child abuse that was covered up by a university. THAT is the joke!

It's like comparing a parking ticket to murder. They are not close to being equal. The Penn St situation is so far worse than anything Nebraska, USC, Florida St, Ohio St Miami...etc or any other "so called" dirty program has ever done.

Stop trying to compare Penn St to other schools on this front. It's foolish and beyond silly.

Read it again Stern. My point is that BO P shouldnt be making a comment about anything given that he is coming from Nebraska. I realize that what went down at Nebraska isnt in the same league as PED State my point is that Nebraska under the good doc Osborne had little if any control over its program and is fortunate that they didnt have a predator on their staff as i doubt they would have done anything about it based on how they ran their program. Last point rapes and beatings although not as bad as Ped state are a heck of a lot closer than a parking ticket to murder.

I read it again and you are STILL wrong and you obviously don't realize whatever off the field incidents that went down at Nebraska isn't the same as Penn St because you keep coming keep trying to compare the too. Just stop! Bo Pelini can say what he wants because nothing Nebraska has done in the history of the school compares to this. It's not even close. This is a case of little Kids being rapped at Penn St! Do you understand that? You will probably say yes but its obvious you don't! Kids being rapped and grown adults covering it up and helping the man doing the rape.

Trying to make up fairy-tales that "IF" Nebraska had this happen to them under Tom Osborne they would have done the same is beyond silly and foolish. You can play the "WHAT IF" game and make up off the wall scenarios all day long, fact is Nebraska didn't and looks like Mother Teresa compared to Penn St. So, just stop with the nonsense and trying to deflect.

Business is busness it's not very often you have a chance to make 2X the revenue of a home game because Giants stadium is sold out, besides t's not like the halftime entertainment Jerry Sandusky and the Harlem boys choir.
