Business is busness it's not very often you have a chance to make 2X the revenue of a home game because Giants stadium is sold out, besides t's not like the halftime entertainment Jerry Sandusky and the Harlem boys choir.

Ironic that MetLife Stadium was almost Allianz Stadium but for the fact that Allianz did a lot of business with the Nazi's, which caused a bit of an uproar in New York. Business isn't always business and I'm sure we could find another way to fill those spots and recoup lost income.

The only thing that matters is maximzing the revenue for the program as we transition into the ACC. More revenue = new state of the art practice facility, locker rooms and meeting rooms. Why fein moral outrage when the people involved are long gone. P.S. business is always business profits are the only things that matter.

Probably the absolute worst reason to play the games. I guess money always comes first to some. And you think people are pretending to have moral outrage? Wow.

I want that job.

I want to be the judge of the moral fitness of universities to appear on the SU schedule.

I'll come up with my own criteria. Don't fret about it.

I'll be issuing judgements on the moral fitness of these schools from atop a mountain in the Adirondacks.

I will be giving one line explanations on schools that are banned, when appropriate. For example:

Penn State - forgetaboutit!
Rutgers - they lied about that waiting list for seats that justified expanding the stadium
Louisville - the story about Pitino screwing that woman in the men's room of a bar during the day is enough to gag a maggot
Georgetown - Michael Graham
UConn - too many to list

I have no problems with any of these

Yes - these are clearly the moral equivalent of what PSU did along with the continued hero worship of the great enabler by the administration, students, alumni and State College community.

I didn't say they were the "Moral Equivalent". They may the worse offender.

But in my new role as arbiter of moral fitness I will be raising the bar higher to insure that SU plays only those schools who pass muster according to my sensibilities, my admittedly incomplete knowledge of the facts in these cases and my own set of biases. In over 40 years I have enough experience and enough grudges to settle to guarantee many schools are going to be found to be ethically unworthy.

AD Gross will show up and present the candidate schools. I will stand, extend my arm up and out allowing the sleeve of my white robe trimmed with orange, to fall away from my hand. With dramatic flourish I will put my thumb up or down.

Its a hard job but someone has to do it.

I understand the point you're making - but why can't the moral line be drawn at "decades long cover up for a child molested by the most powerful men at the university and continued sanctification of the ring leader by the fans, alumni and administration"?

The riots in support of Paterno, the administration's continued capitulation to the idolaters in refusing to remove the statue and their insistence that Paterno's complete moral depravity should no bearing on the other good deeds of his life proves that the entire university has learned nothing. They still want to do things the "Penn State Way." them.

I can't believe people are trying to make a mockery out of what has happened at PedSt over the past 4 decades. And that's exactly what these kind of posts are.

I'm not going to go to the trouble of explaining just why and how this isn't making light of what happened at PSU.

Good idea.

I hope we drop them mainly because we don't need the game anymore.

actually, when you think about it, its pretty obvious that from this point forward after this experience, Penn State is probably going to be the most ethical, by-the-book school in the US.

Coaches will be turning one another in for thinking about NCAA violations. Internal controls and punishments for all sorts of things are going to be the order of the day.

I once talked to a NYS Health Department guy who inspected restaurants. He said the safest place to eat is a place that has just come off of being shut down for violations. That's one place you know is clean.

Marrone and O'Brien are friends. Don't see it happening.
Recognizing that this is a special situation where more people than usual may be weighing in, who normally makes the call on scheduling issues? Coach or AD?

I'd guess the AD puts together some options and runs them by the coach (maybe the other way around sometimes if the coach has friends he wants to play against or recruiting areas to schedule games in). Just not sure if the AD (TGD in particular) rubber stamps the coaches feedback, ignores (or doesn't solicit it at all), or carefully considers things to reach a consensus.

I recommend Haystack. Lofty, bare summit, and difficult - but not impossible - to reach.

You needn't be capricious. Propose a standard. Or are you saying that because it is difficult to define the standard, we shouldn't even try?

The people on this board and others that feel the need to pound their chests the harder than anyone else in a demonstration of their moral outrage aren't substantially better than the PSU fans that keep defending JoePa - just opposite sides of the same coin. Just witch hunters looking for witches - and for some that seems to include the entirety of State College, PA. We've had people post that nothing short of shuttering the entire university would be sufficient justice (I think Bees was one of them...)...when people take that stance it's pretty obvious they aren't serious, they're just posturing to present themselves as the Most Moral Person Ever!!! - and ignoring/mocking their feigned moral outrage is justified.

So I'm totally cool with you mocking people for it.

If being morally outraged at a university covering up and enabling the raping of children is wrong, then count me in.

the damage is done and the punishment is in, Syracuse is not above the law.

lets play em, and lets pound the piss out of them.

no question about it now. the ncaa and the b1g have delivered severe penalty, who is Syracuse to refuse to play them?? what once was a noble idea, is no longer necessary.

Yea there are opposite sides to the coin. The moral side and the immoral side.

And if you're going to claim I said something, search it and quote me.

Aside from the moral issue, no good can come to Syracuse by playing them at this point. If we beat them, who cares with their scholarship issues. If they beat us...well, that would really suck.
