Shrader's offense and Dino's nod

I don’t thinks it’s people doubting TDs ability.

Just people recognizing that it’s probably time to move on from him and that’s okay…I think it’s best for all parties involved
Lol. Yes. It absolutely is.

If every year in Dino’s tenure (except 1) ended with QB2 playing in a non-winning campaign, you need a guy who can play. Morgan might be that next year, but I’d trust TD over the rest of the QB room.

People want to get rid of the player who gives us the best chance at a bowl if GS goes down, not because they are doubting his abilities, but because “it’s just time to move on” is a silly arse take

Devito did well when he was an unknown quantity and came in for ED and had an entirely different game than the DC prepped for. Now his tendencies are known and they shut him down and he doesn't improvise well. Better to go with one of the young guys at this point if the need arises.

Yeah, we’re all aware of his shortcomings. I don’t think they outweigh the positives vs the rawness of #3-5 on the depth chart. I think it’s weird that people think we should look past the kid when he was in contention for QB1 two weeks ago.

He ran well and made good decisions this year.

Hopefully all a moot point and GS stays healthy all year
You aren't going to win many games with TD running the offense. You go right back to the Rutgers game.
The Notre Dame game in 2018 gave defensive CO all they needed to see to defense Tommy, and they have been doing it for 2 years.
We can' t go back to that offense, or Dino is gone, and we start all over again.
Tommy had his chance, it's time to move on.

My friend, I know you love TD but it’s time to move on…. If Shrader goes down Morgan should be the one coming in to play.

TD just isn’t a right fit here in Syracuse….This is one kid that when he transfers after the season I will wish him well for all of what he did here at Syracuse.

It just doesn’t always work out and that’s okay.

Lamson has barely played the QB position. I wish people would temper their expectations with this kid.

If we're looking at raw talent, he's got it. None of these kids know how to play QB out of HS unless they play at one of these factories in TX or FL.

I personally like Morgan's raw talent and think he's better.

To me that depends on what the season looks like. I'm not going with a completely inexperienced QB if we need win 6 vs Pitt and Shrader is out. That would be foolish. If we lost Shrader after Clemson game and we're sitting with an unlikely path to a bowl you certainly see what the kids can give you.

This team is firmly in a bowl hunting seat. It will close the more losses we have. We win this weekend we will control our destiny to some extent b/c we will have beaten a ranked team.

This has nothing to do with emotion. It’s smart. You guys are advocating for a guy with 1 start over a guy who’s been here for 5 years (as we’ve all been reminded of).

It’s common sense. I like my backups to have lots of experience, a good TD/INT ratio, and it’s nice if they are in the top ten of a lot of the Syracuse record books. Morgan will have a chance to be #2 next year.

I hope we don’t have to find out, obviously

He needs a swing coach

Experience matters, of course. That said if GS should miss a start or two, TD should be next man up to run the offense as it has developed with GS at the helm. If he stumbles or cannot deliver, the team should move to one of the younger QB’s.

Tommy should be the backup, but he should run this same exact offense if he does need to come in. Read option, play action rollouts.

He would do fine. Probably better than he has in the past, with more time to survey the field. Primarily leaving him in the pocket to search for targets is not a good idea.

I’d agree w/ this- clearly TD is first off the bench in case of injury, and not some raw, unproven freshman like Captn Morgan!
If Devito comes in and stinks up the joint, THEN you bench him and bring in Cap. It’s just common sense.

Ok, that's fair. Regardless, we both agree that is GS gets hurt, Tommy's name should not be called. It should be Morgan or Lamson.

He's cut from the Shrader/Dungey cloth though as far as style, his high school video shows great situational awareness and he's got wheels. I think that's why people are excited because we may for once actually have a consistent follow-up at QB of this type of QB.

if (god forbid) shredder forgets to slide and takes a tough lick and has to sit i'm more than comfortable that tommy can fill in . that is a luxury to have . a truly tested backup. just hoping that tommy can accept that role.

We lost to Rutgers because we gave Tucker 13 carries instead of 25

There was nothing that TD or GS did in that game that was worse than the 10+ carries we took away from our best player

I think I agree with the bolded part, and it frustrates me.

This, yes. And other things I've seen.

Regardless, whoever gives us the best look as the running and gunning QB is what this offense needs moving forward.
