Have been to Italy before but not Ireland . Planning to visit the Cliffs of Moher , and the Guinness Storehouse. Any suggestions or tips are welcome. Leaving end of the month returning mid July.

Pack like you're dressing for a fall tailgate, esp with a windbreaker. Cliffs of Moher is beautiful, windy as heck and usually raining sideways. Like any other place get off the beaten path, the people are just wonderful and food is better than you'd think. Bring your sticks, you'll pass enough courses to want to play.

I really liked Cork in addition to those that you mentioned. My favorite place though was Westport up in County Mayo. Enjoy!

Grazie, We have free time still available, I’ll certainly give that some research !

Would like to bring clubs , just too much extra to lug around, and too expensive to ship to club . My good friend played the K club last fall and loved it .

Westport isn't far from Croagh Patrick if you feel like following in the footsteps of St. Patrick. Cobh, in County Cork, has a Titanic museum there if that interests you. It's a pretty little town on the southern coast.

Just a heads up on Guinness. It gets very busy and you cannot normally buy same day walk up tickets. Go online and prepurchase. You cannot even get into the giftshop without a ticket.

Also, the Jameson Distillery is not far away and worth a visit.

I am sure you have looked at a map but the Cliffs of Moher are on the opposite side of the country and is a 3 hour drive each way.

That seems, well, self-defeating.

Thanks , did not know that about the Storehouse . We’re staying in Oranmore near Galway the first 3 days. then the train back to Dublin.

if you're going to Cliffs of Moher, drive north on the N67 through Ballyvaugh and Kinarva to Galway and spend the night there. Next day, drive the R336 to R340 to R341 through southwestern Galway, end up in Clifden for lunch. Then N59 north to Killary Fjord (yes, a fjord in Ireland). You can take a boat around it if you like. Then as the other poster mentioned, drive north on N59 to Westport. Stay at the Atlantic hotel in Westport. From there go west on N59 to Achill Island complete the clockwise circle to Ballina. Ballina to Dublin drive time is just around 3 hrs. The west of Ireland is a must see IMHO.

Clifden is a neat spot, worth seeing.

If you're a history fan, visit Kilmainham Gaol and the General Post Office Museum in Dublin. Kilmainham is where they executed the leaders of the 1916 Easter Uprising and where they filmed scenes for "In the Name of the Father" starring Daniel Day Lewis. Phoenix Park is right across the road (Chaplizod Bypass).

I took an Irish Revolution walking tour in Dublin. It was fantastic. They love to show the bullet holes at the GPO! Also in Dublin, I did a musical pub crawl for my birthday. It was also very worth it. Don't forget to see Stiffy by the Liffey, whilst walking about.

I have been once: I remember really enjoying Galway. Dublin is a great city to walk. They have a wonderful park, and a lot of historical sites.
There is a guy (you can find on line) who does a show with his sheep dogs and part of his herd. (He has one of every kind of sheep there is. I think there are 13.) Sounds lame, but it was fascinating.
Howth was cool. Slane Castle is where U2 recorded some of The Unforgettable Fire album.
If you like golf and Ireland, read Tom Coyne’s book, “A Course Called Ireland”. It will surprise you.
As much as the sites, go to the pubs and met the people. They may be the best in the world.
One shortened version of an experience my wife (she has been a dozen times, and counting) had there with her siblings on a bike trip: when they got to the B&B they rented, their host, who lived in the property as well, informed them that she had to go out of town to a funeral. She had made transportation arrangements to and from the local pub for dinner, on her, showed them where the breakfast food was, showed them how to lock up the house, gave them with the keys, and left town.

I didn't like Dublin at all. The beauty of Ireland IMHO are the infinite small pubs. Find one, spend a few hours in the evening drinking Guinness, eating pub food and listening to music.

My nephew was married in Ireland last year. In Dublin, I enjoyed Jamison’s Distillery more than Guinness. If you can do both.

We took a boat to Inis Mor, than saw the Cliffs of Moher from the water, very impressive.

In Westport, there is a pub called Matt Malloys. Matt Malloy was in the Cheiftans. The night we were there, he joined the band. Good time.

Galway is awesome. Have a great time.

Westport was my favorite. We enjoyed a few pints at Conway’s.

Have been 5 or 6 times and my wife and I took her parents for their 1st time in May. Have an extremely thorough itinerary that my wife turned into a booklet and gave her parents. Can forward it to you if interested. It covered a trip around the entire country.

My first thought is that you are on Jeopardy and the answer is: Name four scenic destinations in Europe"
