I don't know where this will end up going. Writing as I go
200th in SRS
Defense better than offense
Good FT% horrible 3p%
That is not a good indicator for the quality of their offense or shots
Doty is 86% from the ft line
Can obviously shoot
Why is he a 32.6% shooter. Better in conference at 35.7
Coyle shot almost 3 more threes a game. He's a 30% three point shooter who shoots 82% from the ft line. He did shoot 39% the prior season
I'm tired of the wrong guys chucking

I'm nervous that it will be more terrible offense and bad shots

I have talked about looking at ft vs 3p for years so please don't accuse me of looking for something to criticize him about

In many cases, the correlation between good FT pct. and good 3-point pct. is not as tight as one might assume.

Maybe more players should emulate the Hal Greer system. :)

I agree. But what other variable explains that? A bad offense where good shooters take bad shots

If you have, say, a senior shoot 90% from the line and only 33% from three on 9 three point attempts a game, your offense has a problem

We shall see. But Gerry has shown no particular innovations or special aptitude in coaching offense.

This is the first Xs and Os interview from a Syracuse head coach in a while which is refreshing. While it wasn’t analytics driven the situational aspect he’s talking about very much aligns with using analytics as to how you want to execute in certain scenarios. Look forward to hearing more. I did like how he mentioned outside guys when noting things about the staff as well alongside some familiar names too.
