Fab is really coming on and Hop is grinning. Think about the progress Fab has made since Hop took over the big men in practice. When Fab got winded and didn't get back late in the first half, Keita played very well on defense. Christmas on the other hand didn't have a good game...but he was playing hard. I'm impressed with the job that Hop is doing.

Hop has been coaching the big men for a few weeks. Lets not give him too much credit.
Hop has been working with the big men in practice for seven weeks. You can see their rapport during the time outs. I'm impressed with Fab's new sense of confidence. He is growing as a player very quickly.

In 7 weeks Fab has lost 35 pounds and found a summers worth of playing time with the Brazilian National Team. Hop is a magician! Seriously though, Hop may have given Fab some newfound energy but no way did he entirely account for this 180 degree turnaround.

Fab came into the season 5x better than he was last year, but since Hop took over, he is 5x better than that. Coincidence or just the trajectory he was on? I don't know, but I see Hop in his ear at every opportunity, yelling encouragement from the bench, etc. His energy and enthusiasm, along with whatever technical coaching he is giving him in practice is making a difference. Fine was a bump on a log.

I'm referring to the change in confidence, not the weight loss or technique. It started with the weird haircut and the attitude in the Stanford game. There is a power of positive thinking thing going on. Christmas had the haircut and the attitude on display against Depaul. But the game is still too fast for him and he gets called for fouls the refs anticipate he'll be committing. Keita does everything right but gets beat up because of his physique. Fab is a different person in his mind, not only his body. Perhaps the intensity that Hop brings to his work is just a sideline or coincidence to the miracle of Fab's improving, toughening mental game--but I think Hop is doing a hell of a job, stepping in and making a difference. He has filled a void and then some.

I think that you are underestimating the motivational aspect. Fab is really going for the blocks with more gusto than he did at the beginning of the season. Haven't you noticed?

Writing prose is said to be 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration. What do Cuse fans say about the formula for gaining as much ground/proficiency Melo has?
