Since we won I can say it

The refs were using a magic 8-ball to make calls tonight. It was absurd at points of the game.

Realistically though, we just absolutely are way better than this Florida team. I don't know if they are overrated or their missing player made that big of a difference or what. But that game, we shot like dog poo from 3, didn't play to our strengths, turned it over a lot, and never got a single call. Meanwhile they hit a miracle amount of stupid heaves from 30 feet and we still whipped them comfortably. I'd slot this Florida team in as a mid-lower teir Big East team (in the mold of Villanova, Cinci, etc from last year). I doubt they would win 10 games in conference.

Florida played two top 3 teams and lost on their home floors by a combined 11 points.

And I don't know if you've noticed but the Big East isn't all that great this year so far.

I respectfully disagree with you on a few points.

I think Florida looked really good, especially since they were without a major player that could have helped them on the boards. I think - as another poster stated - that while there were a lot of bad calls, they were distributed pretty evenly among the teams. The miracle threes? I don't consider those miracles at all - that's what Florida does. That's the kind of player Billy Donovan was, that's what Pitino teaches and does ans so that's what Donovan the Disciple does too. That scared me last night because that's how Louisville and Pitino beat SU all the time.

SU played well enough to win last night and it was an exciting game to watch, but if Florida had another big man in the middle, it could have been a very different game. They absolutely deserve that top ten ranking. They came to a hostile environment, and played a top team right to the end. What you guys are seeing that contradicts that I do not know.

I need to watch the game again. I just never felt that Florida posed any threat whatsoever to win the game. Their 3's were largely well beyond the NBA arc. Maybe they can continue to shoot 48% as a team for the whole year taking those shots, but I highly doubt it. Even against our defense, which is designed to give up bad shots like those all night, they shot sub 40%. I acknowledge they were missing a player, so I can't speculate how they would do with him in there. Maybe he's the next Larry Bird.
