Tonight, I spoke to a close colleague of one of Roberson's former coaches who had a phone call with the staff.

Basic gist:
Looks to be all of 6'9 now and cut, but more importantly was that the staff was "blown away" right when he got on the court the first time. They eventually sat back for the last half hour and watched him do his thing. JB's name was mentioned along with another coach and they were most pleasantly surprised.

Looks amazing on the court, and I am not exaggerating for effect.
Beast.

I've heard the same thing.

but where/when does he get minutes this year?
will he and JG split time evenly?

Dumb question but that's Martin Short right?
Yes, synchronized swimmer. :)

... this is all well and good... but most importantly does he have a dunk nasty face.
Dunk nasty.

Playing "keep away" with Moustapha Diagne. Roberson's one of the best rebounders in NJ in the past few years.

If he is legitimately 6'9 could he get minutes at the 5? Imagine CJ, Jerami and Roberson on the floor at the same time .. wow!

I still like one of them at the 2 better, just to keep that opinion out there. Baye is a 4th year senior Rak a 3rd year Junior, and Dajuan a soph all american. Rak and Baye have more experience then grant, roberson cooney and gbinije.

If its a 5 minute stretch to get a lead and some momentum I see it, and that is more likely. But, if your talking just for the sake of matchups and going with your guns, 2g is our weakness not center, and imo its not even close.

I don't think that would be ideal--he's supposed to be about 205 pounds. Hard to envision him playing center in our system, even if he's 6-9.

Could see Jerami playing some 5 if our other centers can't figure it out. But we do have 3 options so I would hope one of them does.

Seems like the question is whether he's better than Rak and DCII at this point. If so, you could start Roberson at the 4, with CJ at the 3 and JG playing substantial minutes off the bench at both spots. That means either Rak or DCII splits time with Baye (I see Baye getting plenty of minutes no matter what) and the other one spends a lot of time watching. I think someone in an early thread said Roberson's emergence could hurt Dajuan the most and that makes a lot of sense.

Probably all true but I'd swap Roberson and Grant as far as who starts.

The starting lineup at least for the start of the season is not going to change. Everything I have read and seen suggests.

Rak
DC
CJ
Trevor
The Creator

Baye is the backup 5
Gbinije the backup 1 and 2.

Roberson probably takes time away from DC2/Rak the most. CJ isn't going to be coming out of games unless he is in foul trouble. We aren't going to see a lineup with a big two guard. We barely saw that last year with James. It basically comes down 2 positions for 80 minutes between DC,Rak,Baye, JG, and Roberson. Maybe the top first 3 guys combine for 40 minutes and JG or Roberson combine for the other 40. Not sure exactly what is going to happen, but having lots of good players is a good problem to have.

How many 'true centers' are on the opposition's rosters this year? Three forwards might not cost us that much defensively in some situations.

Look at Autry's breakdown of Roberson and you'll get a pretty good idea of what his roll will be.
