Slow death of the ACC takes another major step

I floated a question to a trusted source, and he confirmed that the GOR is ironclad no matter what the lawyers for the schools say. The ACC has the full backing of the WWL. The big question is will the ACC hold firm. The WWL can’t control what the conference does. If the ACC sticks to its guns, then they should be able to weather this for the duration of the GOR.

However, at some point this is all going to blow up, and the dirtbags in the SEC and B1G will reshape the landscape. It’s sounding like a scramble will ensue at some point. But the ACC isn’t imploding tomorrow or even next year, unless they choose to breach the hull themselves. They have the leverage over FSU and Clemson.

And there's no reason to budge, even if a few others jump in as well. Thanks for sharing what you heard. Just need to hold the line. FSU will fold once they start seeing the billing from external counsel.

Another wild possibility, all these teams become a pro farm league.

It's going to happen.

Just look at it objectively:

State flagship university? No.
AAU? No.
Captures a new large market? No, as Rutgers already brings the NYC cable boxes.
Recent football success? No. Since 2002, Syracuse is 107-161.
Recent basketball success? Yes. Since 2002, 1 championship and 3 Final Fours.

I think the Big 10 would take UNC, UVA, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Cal and maybe Duke and FSU (and of course Notre Dame) before Syracuse.
Syracuse is pseudo state flagship of New York.
But withdrawn from AAU is a big mistake. Hope we increase spending on research and re-apply back to AAU.
Also I believe SU has righted the ship on football with the new coach. Expect football be competitive again.

How will we ever hold on to the Atlantic Ocean?
Will we become the NCC? or PCC? or STFCC?

Separate conferences for separate sports May well be the future.

An
Ordering of
Conferences wouldn’t be a surprise.
Perhaps with a form
Of relegation and promotion.
That may look like a long shot or a joke now…but change is
Coming in forms we may not see yet.
Just let football peel off into a super conference or whatever they want to call it. Then reestablish regional conferences so the rest of the sports make sense competitively.

I think most people would say the GORs are solid, but there are some questions that need to be answered to help understand what comes next. Do the GORs extend past 2027 as that is when the current contract (ESPN has extension rights) runs out? If ESPN doesn't extend the media contract, are the GORs valid? Are the penalties for leaving the conference excessive? A court could rule the exit penalties are too high. Generally, both parties of a contract don't need a copy of a contract for it to be enforceable, but if one party asks for a copy and the other side says no, what are the legal ramifications? Does it matter who signed the contract for the university? In other words, did the signer have the legal right to commit the university to the contract.

People on the Boneyard today were trolling SU hard, they even put up a post from Dasher and really spoofed him.
These are dark and uncertain times for sure.

FB at least trending up. At least the ACC sucks so there is a possibility we catch lightning in a bottle.

Still can't get over punting on 3rd year Quadir. He averaged more points per 40 than turnstyle Starling What letting him go?

If you thought this was an off year for ACC hoops, just wait until next season. Stanford hasn't made the Big Dance in ten years and Cal hasn't been there since 2016. SMU finished tied for 5th in the AAC and last made the tournament in 2017.
