A couple of poor starts the last 2 weeks for Dungey and the offense. Is it a trend? Something that Dino and crew are deficient in teaching? Doubtful. Much more likely is random variance.
  • SU has scored on its first possession in 8 of 17 games coached by Dino (7 TD, one FG).
  • SU has scored first in 8 of 17 games (record when scoring first is 4-4).
Last year, in one stretch, we scored an opening drive TD in 4 of 5 games against stout competition (with one exception): @USF(TD), @UConn(TD), vs ND(TD), @ Wake (no score, Hurricane), vs. VT(TD).

throwing a pick on the first possession tends to make slow starts feel worse. throw those 2 plays out

game 1 we started fast
game 2 we struggled the first half
game 3 we scored 10 pts the first quarter
game 4 we kicked a FG went 17 plays on drive 2.. not sure thats a slow start
game 5 we went 50 yds and missed after the pick. still not a bad start

i think the big issue is no running game so we havent punched in the first drive for tds even though we had a shot.
