Our offense has a plethora of weapons. We do great in the second half. People that are smarter than me, what's happening where we basically are bland nothingness in the first half and especially in the first quarter? To come out so awful every week, what is that?

Our inability to run the ball consistently is a problem and is a main contributor to the slow starts IMO
I don't disagree but wouldn't that make it so that our passing game would be easier to defend as the game goes on? Or are teams just going to a prevent style in the pass game because they know we have to pass?

We get into too many 3rd and longs for my liking because we can't the run the ball, even against light boxes like you said.

Slow of late but in the beginning of the season weren't they jumping out early and getting good leads? Interesting that this has shifted to extremes.

Sluggish out of the gate vs Ohio and Stanford 0 points in first quarter. IMHO the only game they were really great out of the gate was UNLV.

Got to remember, as djcon57 has posted, we haven’t played four good quarters of football in a game.

I agree with your concern (I’d actually like to see a gadget play used off the bat if we have ok field position), but it’s a symptom of a larger issue.

I get sick of every 1st down play to start a drive handoff to Allen for 1 or 2 yards up the middle.
How about McCord under center quick pop to Allen or Pena in the flat.

some of the issue is that we still do a ton of RPO and when we see light boxes that we should be able to run against we still try and fail.

Also Mccord looks to me like he wants pass rpo more than run cause 2 times i saw Allen going left and its wide open Mccord keeps ball and threw it away. Either he has a predetermend assignmentor he would just rather throw ball.
