We are seeing a QB that cannot process the game properly.. he is doing a devito... he gets the play call and immediately knows where he is going with it regardless of D or coverage.. that works on maybe 20% of all plays..backshoulders and seam routes... he just isnt processing the game as a competent QB.. missed an open nixon on 2nd down over the middle and throws into double coverage becasue he had already decided where to go with it regardless of D.. in a nutshell.. the game is moving way to fast for him.. and it may never get a ton better

Devito NEVER had the luxury of the pocket time that Collins has gotten. If I recall correctly, TDV usually average less than 3 seconds to get rid of the ball.

one of my big issues with first half other than Collins... i want to know who is responsible for game planning bunch formations on 3rd and 4th when we need 2 yards. Even on the goal line play you could see Collins is not that comfortable taking it under center. IF we did not have confidence in Collins throwing the ball going into the game and we were going to run hard up the middle while giving the plays away before snap with formations.. that is just not smart.. SMU run defense is serviceable and can be above average against a mediocre run team like ours.. you could see it in their other games.. On the goaline play why not pitch it to Willis out of that set and let him go 1 on 1 with the LB? how about throwing some slants to spread out the LB's and give us some room in the middle? so much more ccould have been game planned better against this opponent.. its the first time I have seriously questioned Nixon because its almost as if he game planned on what he thought we couldnt do rather that get creative to hide the QB flaws.. basically giving the game away as our plan had no real chance from the get go. dissappointed is an understatement thus far for this game
