SMU is favored against UConn

Not unexpected - UConn is not that good, and is SMU is at a level comparable to St. John's.

UConn is going to struggle to go 11-7 in the ACK. Their KP ranking of 41 (and conference) suggests they are tracking hard for the bubble.

I know a lot of people made jokes about uconn eventually becoming a mid major and losing to teams the calibre of Houston in an empty gym, but damn did that happen a lot faster than I anticipated.

But good news for UCONN... LebronjamesLebronjamesLebronjamesLebronjamesLebronjamesLebronjamesLebronjamesLebronjamesLebronjamesLebronjames

We all knew they had nothing upfront other than Daniels who is more of an natural slasher/shooter big 3than an inside 4. We all knew that no matter how good Napier and Boatright are at times they can sink their own ship when they aren't good. Really this is no surprise. They can beat good teams if things fall their way and the guards shoot well and play well. If not they can lose to anyone and I mean anyone. They are a bubble team and may make it on the strength of that scheduling mishap on Billy D's part.

Kevin Ollie is good recruiter but lacks the coaching experience. I was surprised that they handed it off to him but UConn must have been worried they would lose players if he wasn't given the position. To counter that they made Hobbs and Miller assistant coaches to give him the experience. Who is calling the shots on the sideline?

Kevin Ollie- assistant coach at UConn (2 years); HC UConn (1.5 years) 31 wins 11 losses

Calhoun Coaching Tree

HC Experience
Dave Leitao- HC Northeastern, Depaul, Virginia (9 years) 143 wins 129 losses
Karl Hobbs- HC George Washington (10 yrs) 166 wins 129 losses
Glen Miller- HC Brown and Penn (11 yrs) 138 wins 151 losses
Howie Dickenman- HC Central Connecticut (18 years) 262 wins 241 losses
Steve Pikiell- HC Stony Brook (8 years) 125 wins 144 losses (took them to Division I)
Ted Woodward- HC Maine (9 years) 92 wins - 144 losses
* assistant coaches to Kevin Ollie

No HC Experience
Andre LaFleur- assistant coach UConn (10 years); associate HC Providence (3 years)

Why wasn't LaFleur offered the position instead of Ollie? He brought in the recruits that won the championship.

It is great that SU has Hopkins in waiting and not overlooking what he has done for the program.

Bad news is that I think UConn wins today.

My favorite was one guy saying they would wipe the floor with Syracuse after the first handful of games. Wish I could bump that thread over there.

Said this 2 months ago. Overrated. All Napier and not enough anyone else. If Napier doesn't score 25 and the other team has decent big men they will lose.

Bad taste of AAC in they mouf's

They had a second half lead in both games against SMU and Houston. You would think superstar guards could hold the lead.

Take SMU and the point = cash money baby

SMU 74 UConn 65

But they will beat Syracuse in MSG....

I guess they forgot to tell those guys about the national titles they won.

wrong. It's tough for us because we still view them as well, uconn. But that is changing. Kind of sad really. Maybe not. On second thought, Marsh01 is correct.

"But here's the thing, you keeping going back to the history that Duke and UNC have ...the AAC is actually better ON THE COURT than the ACC. HOUSTON, SMU...they are the future" - UConn football fan boy
