I'm not a doctor, but is it normal that he's experiencing soreness in his leg?

I'm not a doctor either, but I would think that after healing from a break in which you probably weren't allowed to participate in the types of activities involved in a FB practice, the muscles involved wouldn't have been used in a while. Soreness is natural.

Most likely has some atrophy, he went a very long time without using it. Probably needs some PT which I'm sure he has gotten and continue to work it out and get stronger. It will get better, just like any injury, need to get that lost strength back and get used to using it again.

I broke my right hand and had to have surgery on it last February 6th, it took me until Thanksgiving to be able to truly shake the soreness and rebuild strength in my wrists/forearms. He'll be fine.

When they cutoff my full leg cast after 3 1/2 months the amount of atrophy was completely shocking despite having been warned. Decades later am still sore to the touch in the parts that broke.

Baby.....:)

It's also possible the bone itself is still getting used to intense physical activity since he would've been non-weight bearing for 6 weeks or so.

That is probably arthiritis.

I'm sure your johnson is grateful for the reprieve.
