Wake Forest, Duke, Buttgers, and Ped State this coming season.

So why aren't we on their schedule and vice versa? :(:bang:

Would make for a helluva tailgating experience here and at West Point. The game would be enjoyable as well.;)

Good question.

The scheduling for success theme is resonating with some on the hill.

I've always thought they should have extended series with UB and Army that are one home and one away every year.

Then one home and away with a name opponent and then a pay day home game with a D-1AA.

Well, we know the head coach is on board.

The problem has been with the AD. Hope the new staff is a little more proactive and intelligent in scheduling. Coach Shafer mentioned last night that he did some research on our OOC scheduling and found that Syracuse had the toughest OOC schedule in the country over the past 10 years.

That is insane for a school trying to rebuild it's football program.

Syracuse-Army is such a natural fit on our schedule... that of course it's happened once in the past 25 years. :bang:

Given how we play in a southern-dominated conference playing Army annually would be hunky dory.

Might have worked for Bobby Bowden, but clearly not working for us.

I actually wouldn't mind scrapping the home and away with a name opponent for the next 5-7 years, until the program gets its feet underneath it again.

No way.

I agree.

Felt like SU had to schedule tough the past ten years. They were positioning themselves for both the B1G and ACC. They needed to get exposure from both leagues. Now that Syracuse is in the ACC, it is possible to pump the breaks on the schedule. I understand that it was insane for a school trying to rebuild but we were also in sales mode.

Still like that they have one tough one like LSU on the schedule...even though this is the opposite side of my argument :)

I did like the story about 2012, NWestern, at Minny, USC at Met Life on the schedule and they have an opening. Instead of scheduling a win the response from the AD was "Here's a great idea, why not add Missouri and we'll play them on the road!". He's still pissed, and if he feels that way imagine how Marrone felt at the time.

I remember SU v. Army a million years ago at West Point. It was great walking around tbat Campus. Competitive game, which we pulled out in the last quarter. Would love to see the rivalry renewed. Navy would be too tough for us now.

I thought we had a big come back that fell short.

I wouldn't mind seeing a home and home series with both Army and Navy scheduled so that one of them would be in the Dome every year. It's always enjoyable to see the cadets/midshipmen at a football game.

Now that Navy is in the AAC and they play Army, Air Force and ND every year OOC, I wouldn't bet on it.

I was at the away game that we lost in 1986, 33-28.

I would rather we avoid playing teams that rely on the cut block like Navy and GaTech.

Michie Stadium is a fun place to watch a game and the West Point campus is beautiful. Your tax dollars hard at work. Went to games there as kid and took my son (SU '14) there when he was in HS. I would love to see us play there.

I'm going way back to the 1960's or maybe '70's. Thought I remember going home happy. 35-28 or something like that. Hard to remember last week.

Yep...thanks orange79. It must have been the 1970 game.

The entire series - most surprising to me was that in the 21 times we've played, only 5 have been in Syracuse.

Time to change that. 1 and 1 going forward!

Still can't get over the fact that they (Army) are playing 2 ACC teams and 2 B10 teams and not us. Hope people up on the Hill can now get their collective heads out of their collective asses and right this travesty of scheduling. This needs to go on an early punch list for the new AD!
