So do you draft Melvin Gordon in the 1st rd?

Would take him in a heartbeat.

Seen some ESPN mock drafts that have Mariota from Oregon as No. 1 pick. I think he will be a bust.

1000% No. Not in 1st round

...and has nothing to do with his ability.
Just that RB isn't that important of a position in NFL anymore. Very interchangeable. Great RBs can be found in later rounds. Of Top 5 RBs this year yards wise, only Lynch was a 1st round pick. Bell, McCoy, Murray, Forsett

Not to mention Foster, Forte, Charles.

The % just point to not draft RB early. Too many busts

Would have looked good in Orange.

Our offensive minded coach didn't see his talent. The Doug as miracle worker crowd needs to also look at what he's left in his wake. Not pretty.

Melvin Gordon runs exactly like Jamaal Charles. Same body type and cut ability.
I would never take a RB in the top 25 unless they are Adrian Peterson. Gordon/Gurley pre-ACL would have been contender to be late first round picks. I bet Gordon goes in the high 30s and Gurley mid-2nd round anyway. Gurley without the ACL prolly gets the Peterson hype but not now.

Not in the 1st round. I actually prefer Tevin Coleman to Gordon. Dude is a beast, and put up huge numbers with an OK offensive line, that had no passing game the 2nd half of the season.

How do you know, maybe they would have made him a DB.

Maybe they would have.

There are very few RB's you take in the 1st. But I love Gordon.

He will go in Rd 1, but I wouldn't want my team to draft him. RB's are really a dime a dozen in the NFL these days, easily replaceable position in a big-time passing leagueand you can find guys in the mid rounds or later rounds or undrafted and get production out of them. But Gordon is so good that some team will take a shot on him in the middle to late 1st round.

Seattle if they want to move on from Lynch. Miami could pair him with Miller for a 1-2 punch. Put him in Indy with Luck. Baltimore if they don't want to pay Forssett big money since he is a FA

Having watched draft day and now being an expert in this field ... I'm not sure!

Nope. Only offense I'd draft in round 1 would be oline or a stud wr. Gordon is a very good player but I'm not sure he's worth passing on a stud lineman to run behind and some comparable rb's to run behind them that will be avail in the 2nd round.

Teams also better load up on defensive players that can run and play coverage since you cant play physical in the secondary at all anymore.

Gordon is going top 20 book it . Gurley late 1st early second

2012 Trent Richardson 3rd, 2010 C.J. Spiller 9th, 2008 Darren McFadden 4th, 2007 Adrian Peterson 7th, Marshawn Lynch 12th these are the TOP 20 RBs.
Gordon is unlikely to go top 20 the NFL teams have devalued RBS as top 20 picks. Not sure why you think he will go that high.

all the mocks have him top 10

all the mocks have him top 10
Mocks had Boejen Werner as a top 5 2 years ago after the season. Mocks mean nothing till after the combine. BTW not all mock drafts have Melvin Gordon as a top 10 pick. ESPN's Todd McShay did his first mock on December 17th and had Gordon going 23rd to Baltimore.

You wouldn't take a transcendent QB?

Gurley with his knee injury probably goes in Round 3 or so maybe later depending on how the rehab goes

You wouldn't take a transcendent QB?

I am not so sure such a think exists most years. The bust quotient Is too high and most nfl head coaches have such a short leash. Most of the top qbs in recent memory were given a year or more to acclimate. Most expected to be the franchise savior immediately flame our because if you're drafting that high, you have other major holes as well.

If Gordon is lucky he will be drafted by an established team like the pats or bengals late first.

If running back is your biggest need and he's the guy on the top of your board when your pick comes up, I think you take him.

In the 1st round? I think there are 3 stud rb's this class: Gordon, Gurley, and Coleman. I would gladly take any 3. I am sure all will grade out pretty evenly, and the chance of all 3 being gone before your 2nd or 3rd pick would be pretty low. The way the position has been de-valued recently I can't see any GM taking them with their 1st pick. Or at least i'd hate to see my team take a RB with the 1st round pick.

I agree with ImperialOrange's strategy. I think it depends on how we define transcendent? The only QB i'd like to see my team take in the 1st round would be Mariota. I think some teams will have Winston up there, but I wouldn't touch him.
