So how do we get the coaches/players ...

Come out firing. We keep trying to establish the run and we are a passing team.

I thought the opposite yesterday. we seemed to want to throw when the run was there most of the day.

45 runs 35 passes.

And at least a third of those passes were screen or pop passes that are essentially running plays anyway.

I hope the coaching staff was just using this game to try to work on the running game/screens not necessarily because it was they best play but an area they needed work on.

Hope they "come out firing" the rest of the way out ... we have the ability to put up big numbers quick and should put teams in a hole early and this will let our D and special teams play with a bit more confidence,

IMO Marrone over coaches. For instance all of those screens I would bet were a result of thinking "oh how will SB attack our O? Hmmm. I bet they blitz us up the middle. Let me look at my binder. Says here to run screens against that. So let's run those." That to me is fine in the NFL but makes zero sense in CFB. It is simply over thinking things. We were playing a goddam 1AA team. We are more talented then them. Run what you are best at and make them stop it. If/when they do then go ahead and use the screen as a counter to their D. But DICTATE what happens to the D. We are waaay too passive early in games. We start off being conservative to see how the D plays us and then decide how to attack. That IMO is counterproductive. CFB D's for the most part are way behind the Os. The Os are at an advantage. They should run their bread and butter until it is stopped.

We should not have come out running a dozen screens when we really struggle to execute it. Once we fell behind we should have come out passing in the second half until we got up by 2 TDs. I realize we ran the ball well but their secondary was equally as bad. Sales was toying with them yet he had one ball thrown his way through 3 Qs. Totally unacceptable.

Thta's the issue. Against an FCS, should we be "taking what they give us" or taking what we want?
