first one dude clotheslines the QB with no call, then a dude totally headhunts their best receiver and no call. yet another joke job by . . . . officials.
They called the roughing for the hit on Watson, maybe you weren't watching. The other hit should have been called but was very close.

Looked clear to me. Helmet to helmet on Williams.

Couple things...

1 - He wasn't a defenseless player
2 - the defender didn't use the crown of his helmet
3 - You aren't calling the game as a ref in any capacity

3. I 100% agree with. I can still disagree with a call.

I'd have to see it again but first contact was clearly helmet to helmet and the defender led with the head.

The officials aren't calling the dreaded "pants not covering the knees" either. ( circa 1998 vs Tennessee ).
A few of the bama players are almost wearing shorts out there

he was already being tackled. the second dude came in helmet down and struck him in the head. yeah I'm not a ref, What are you talking about.

At halftime they keep replaying that arm to the head of Watson and highlight how Alambama is "really going after the QB" and Alabama " will take that 15 yard penalty" if it rattles Watson.

I remember that kind of talk making a lot of sense when I watched football even ten years ago. Tougher to stomach now with what we know about head trauma.

Not that Clemson isn't participating (and adding a whole new chapter of weirdness with their "brown paw" maneuvers!)

Until the whistle blows and the play is over, in the process of being tackled doesn't mean much.
