we run again 3 WR set 1TE.. Clemson on 3 DL 4 LB set.

We pull the LG again and again this is just crazy. We are crashing down to the left. the guard is pulling and the LT has the outside LB. the Guard has the other OLB. from this pt one it makes no sense.

the ROL never gets touched which in itself would be ok if the guy wasnt so dang quick.
the TE takes the MLB and the oline is doing what you want.

but but but

what the heck is the pulling guard doing.. if the LT chips the OLB and the guard hits the other OLB there is no one to make the play except the MLB coming across the hole.. if the block on the LB is good the back can also take it outside.

the guard doesnt touch anyone and it should be an easy kick out block

again good call that should work.

Great post again! Wow... the hole that could’ve been created on the right side if the pulling guard chipped the blitzing LB...

yup and if the TE feels it he can come off and chip the other MLB that leaves 1-1 with the only guy left..

but our guy didnt block anyone. maybe film told him to look for the MLB and ignore the outside?

a boot run would have worked also.

Should the wideouts be doing something (anything) besides standing there looking back watching the play? What if the back does bounce it outside? Shouldn’t those WRs be taking their DBs down field?

its an RPO so since the oline doesnt go down field the one WR turned into a screen pass. at 3rd and 2 and the other DB is soft so i think its the QBs option to throw it.

It is hard to tell from the pics but I would think that the TE should stay with the outside guy and the pulling G opens up the hole on the inside, hence him not looking to kick the guy out. If they were in a base 3-4 though that LB isn’t in the backfield.

This looks like a 5-2 set to me but I agree with your overall take. Why are the LT and TE blocking down with those two guys on the outside? Niether one is touched. If they're kicked outs it's probably a nice gainer.

Here's what I want to know though, what's being surveyed pre-snap?, why is this play call a run ? because at my first glance it looks like this is the prefect time to throw a WR screen to the right side. You've got 8 guys in the box. #9 is on the far side WR (in press man w/no-one over the top). #10 is at the bottom in press coverage over Riley and we can assume #11 is at least 5 yards off the ball over Jackson. Get the ball to Riley and execute the block and your talking making 1 guy miss for a 75 yard TD.

(Or how about the 1 v 1 coverage with no help over the top on the other side?) IDK. I assume they were just trying to run out the clock at this point. If the lineman execute it's a first down - or should be.

our WR have not made a block all yr. but if you dont throw that they never honor it with better coverage.. the way we are blocking inside why not take a shot with 1 block or 1 miss..

did anyone see the Falcons play to Julio where the tackle went out and made that block to win the game.

I agree though so far TD has not made that throw much and if anything he throws it better than Eric did.

WR have to learn how to catch it. Still if the blocking inside is made its an easy FD.
