+/- mookie... I don't see how the staff can feel comfortable doing it... We'd be an injury away from jeopardizing the season... Any1 hear anything as far as a JUCO or reclassification for us?

Mookie will be back im sure, worse case scenario is an injury and southerland, fair, or grant would get minutes at the 2

Not sure Grant has the handle right now to play the two. It's possible but not for a long stretch IMO. No way James or CJ can play the top of the zone. I think the Mookster will be back.

I'd love to see it work, but it's not like any of those guys are take you off the dribble 3's and 4's

Who needs more guards when you have the best combo guard in the country in your backcourt? He is a tank, he isn't getting injured.

We'll have 4, Bjorn is working on his Calderoness

Somewhat Dissagree...

CJ or James could probably play the top of the zone.
Both can get around a screen.
You have to slide more at the top of the zone and CJ and James are decent sliders. It shows as They like to trap and press. They were the ones always trapping and pressing Kris was always playing the pass.

We had Kris at the two two years ago because of his offensive game and isolation when Dion wasn't ready. And the reason we didn't go with Fair instead is because we only had Rick in post isolation and we needed the dribble penetration to aid him.

Biggest thing is We won't need CJ or James to play dribble penetration as a Sg. Not with DC, Noel in the high post.
And CJ and James will complement each other inside and outside with that lineup. Both have a quick confident jumpshot trigger.
With Noel and Rak both being shotblockers, one of them could cheat up more on the SG side helping Fair or James out.

CJ and James would kill teams posting up at the 2 and the 3 collectively. Especially if Noel or DC are on the floor with them and get going in the high post. And MCW has the passing game to put the ball in a 2 foot window.

The only part it would hurt us in would be our fast breaks. I think James and Cj would be fine at breaking the press. Two three dribbles and pass. Its not that hard.

orangefan: You're now assuming we're getting Mr. Noel?

Yea 3 is a great number as long as no one gets hurt... Just ask UNC about guard injuries

I don't feel bad for a team that has 4 McD AA GUARDS on their team

Baye Moussa Xeita?
I think he's actually referring to this, because he's just a big fan:

no matter who the 4th is(Mookie or soemone we bring in) even with an injury that person would only play if we had foul trouble

This has got to be at least the 20th version of "Gee don't we need:
-a fourth guard
-a good incoming freshman
-a JUCO transfer
-a forward that can move to guard
-devine intervention

:bat:

WHAT??? even the walkons played over mookie this season and then he flat out disappeared.mookie is done. he's probably traveling back to his home planet. the mookster scored just 20 points last season on 273 fg%. 294% from 3. and does anybody here think he looked to be in peak shape? the mook was a friggin pear. sadly mookie's simply not a viable orange option anymore. just bad science experiment who blew up in our faces. good luck in his next endeavor.
