Two questions I haven't had to ask about Syracuse basketball in what feels like a decade. I don't want to turn this into another coach bashing thread... this is more of a this used to be one of my favourite times of the year and it hasn't been for quite a long time. Hopefully it's not another 5 years before March matters again for more than spring is in the air and the ides of march.

While our coaches and players won’t get this answered tonight. Our broadcasters will, not the seed, but the region. So we have that going for us still.

I just fired up the DeLorean.

Tell me the year and I'll let you know,

biggest quandary during the show used to be "what toppings do you want on your pizza ?"

The hide in the basement and kiss your ass goodbye region...

I was in law school in 1983. It was senior year for Leo, Red Bruin and Santifer. Didn’t have a great record in the BE but Pearl was on the way. On selection Sunday the power went out in my apartment on Clinton St. my then GF now wife held the phone up to her TV in DC so I could hear every bracket and write it down. We flamed out in second round. Maybe OSU? Anyway fun memories of when the day mattered.

When I started discussing the tournament on this board in 2012, all the chatter from people here was about what we needed to do to get to closest pod to Syracuse (as a top 4 seed).

In 2016 it suddenly changed to the bubble, which we hung around so closely to for about 5 or 6 years.

Now its been 4 years of nothing.

We never got invited to the tournament that year despite winning the Big East Tournament in triple overtime against Villanova. We lost in the finals of the NIT to TULSA. Schayes turned an ankle in shoot around and hobbled the entire game. As a result, JB stopped having game day shoot around.

From a sliver, to a slice, to a slab, to a slob. Very sad it has gone this low. Makes winters in Syracuse that much tougher.

Most realistic chance for success for many years has been TBT where a ragtag assortment of Alumni and non-Syracuse players vie for glory while funded by a wealthy local businessman.
