Soak this in... (Baylor UW)

This is a real boxscore.

Crazy numbers.

Same thing watching the Little Ceasars Bowl on Tuesday. How is it that a mid-level MAC team like Western Michigan can move the ball consistently against a Big10 opponent like Purdue and yet we can't seem to get out of our own way on O and haven't been able to recruit a solid QB for the last ten years ? Depressing.

Phil Bennett, the current DC at Baylor, was the DC when Pitt lost the Sun Bowl 3-0 a couple of years back. I guess he learned his lesson: if you want to win games, let the other team score to the point that they wear themselves out.

i get sick to my stomach watching teams score points like its easy-

for the last decade points have come like halley's comet for su-

i kept flipping over to the game just to try to get a look at RGIII but he was scoring so fast all i saw were the kickoffs!

forget the 200 rushing/200 receiving goal for the offense. Now it's 300/500. Baylor almost hit it!
Baylor gives up 488 ypg a game and outgains their opponents by 100 ypg...

Ya SU sucks, Marrone sucks, everything just sucks! I think the whole board as agroup should collectively jump off a building!

in reality syracuse has gone against the old-offense sells tickets thing-

been over a decade since we have had one yet people still show up-

can you imagine how many might come if there was a chance su could score 35 plus regularly

and why the hell cant we get a oc of hc who has the ability to look up and notice he plays in a dome on a fast flat surface -

This is why I get so agitated when people crow about how us scoring 24 is plenty enough to win. It's like they haven't watched any other college football aside from SU for the past 10 years.

These are the types of questions I ask myself when I watch our team and approach.

If I'm a Washington fan I'm not very happy about the box score and if we ever scored 56 and loss you'd all be in epic meltdown mode.

The alternative may be that we'd lose 67-13.

baylor has 7 games with over 600 yards. 777 is a bit much but UW is in good company

mind boggling

if we wanted to find a nice round number that we exceeded 7 times this year, we have to drop the number from 600 to 350.

i'm actually surprised we got over 350 7 times. my points more about baylor.

2 games under 500 yards... 1 game under 480... worst game was 429

we had 1 game better than their worst game... again, more about baylor than us...

Dude, you're cherry picking data. Your post is going to hurt the coaching staff's feelings.

You may be in to something here.

I'm sure there would be some upset people, but I also think you can improve your defense quicker than you can improve your offense. I remember that last game against UConn 2009, we lost 56-31 I think? But we had 500 yards, it was the 2nd game of our assumption that Spence had been removed from calling the game and Marrone was doing it. So while there was certainly special teams concerns, some defense concerns stopping the run, I didn't think it was a meltdown on the board (outside of people being upset with Edsall). I remember people being excited about where our offense was going to go under Marrone.

These are excellent questions.

This is how you get recruits, win games, and get fans in the seat (not that those three things seem to be SU's priority).

I was laughing at that game, because both defenses were so inept. But I still prefer to watch slobber knocking defensive football over a joke like that. I have a feeling we'll get to see a couple more shootouts during the next week, before defenses come to the fore in the BCS title game.
