It's wild. 500k new cases a day this past week as well.

The other day I said that it felt like that CBB was heading towards a pause. Still feel that way and that it would be a miracle or major adjustments in the schedule/season if there isn't.

It sure seems that way. If we are in the 500-700k a day even with it being less severe the sheer number of severe cases is still overwhelming given the top number.

I could be wrong, but if they didn’t pause/shut down the season last year, I don’t see them doing it this year.

I think they keep trucking on: teams that can play will, teams that can’t won’t.

I think a lot of teams will be playing with 7 scholarship players and a few walkons.

The SU women's team only had 7 healthy scholarship players vs UNC today.

It was ugly. :(

Schools need money. They will fight through this.

Probably.. I think that it is going to come close to that line be it it crosses or not. We maxed around 275k cases a day last winter without the vaccines for the masses. We are close to doubling that but with vaccines. If we are at the peak now and start back down that is one thing but if things keep climbing it will become a question again.

If what happened in South Africa is instructive, omicron comes and goes pretty quickly. They had a peak and then a sharp decline all in about a month. It infects quicker but doesn't stick around as long, especially if you've been vaxxed.

Let's hope that trend is accurate.

I have it right now. If I was a basketball player, and this virus was by any other name, I’d chalk it up to a cold and play through it. Obviously I don’t expect that drastic of a shift this year, but I also had Delta back in August, and this is most definitely not that.
