I know others have already posted a few things about their trip, but here are a couple more things.
1) I knew it was going to be a good trip when I went to the car rental counter and after I checked in I asked her what color my car was and she said "Orange". I never took a picture of it but it was a very nice Dodge Avenger with a Burnt Orange hue.
2) I should have realized with us being the one seed that "everyone" would be rooting against us but I wish I had a nickel for every person who called us cheaters or said we were lucky to win on Thursday. Pittsburgh fans were rooting against us, WVU fans were rooting against us and OSU fans were rooting against us. It was very ugly. However I did meet one Pitt fan on Friday morning who said he was rooting for us and was glad we won on Thursday. He was the only one.
3) I know Tomcat talked about the arena and I thought they did a great job and it was a very nice place to watch a game. Very minimal lines everywhere. Probably the only arena that I have ever been in that served RC Cola and Root Beer.
4) One nice things about NCAA games is that you see a lot of fans wearing their favorite teams apparel. Two really stick out: One lady was wearing a Ohio U t-shirt with a USF sweat jacket over it, so I am not sure who she will be rooting for tonight, but she was very happy both teams won, and then another lady that was wearing a Kansas State T-shirt for our game and then quickly switched to a Gonzaga t-shirt for their game.
5) Pitt fans did a great job buying up tickets but they are not the greatest basketball fans. Saturday started out very unbearable until we took a 22-11 lead. Fortunately that shut up the most obnoxious ones very quickly, which there were quite a few. Others in our section were extremely quiet and just couldn't understand how they could spend decent money to attend and not take a rooting interest.
6) We popped in this one restaurant Thursday night since they had a bunch of TV's so we could watch the night session games. However, our mistake since every TV was turned to the Penguins game and Crosby's return. But, in the back they had a Czechoslavakian film festival going on where the audience was mainly czechoslavakian lesbians. Have not seen too many of them in upstate NY.
7) On Friday we went to the Frick museum. Part of it is a exhibition of old cars. Probably about 20 cars total. The highlight was a 1929 Beige Rolls Royce that they have on loan from a collector from Ohio. This car was worth $2 million. I still don't know which was more impressive: this car or the collection of czechoslavakian lesbians.
8) St Patricks Day parade. It was such a beautiful day on Saturday that I would have liked to have stayed out a little longer in the nice weather but our game took priority. Definitely a lot of people there and lots of bagpipers but like in many cities, due to past problems they did not allow beer to be consumed during the parade. I'm sure a lot of people made up for it later, but the beer distributors must have cringed at the loss of sales between the parade and the lack of beer sales in the Consol Center.
9) Tearing down of the Civic Arena. This was where the Pens played before they built the Consol Center. They have most of it down except for the last panel and the main supporting beam. For those who didn't know, the Civic Arena was the first arena with a retractable roof. It will be very interesting to see how they are going to finish off the rest of the demolition.
