Fitzgerald's seat is about as hot as a seat at Coyne Field is right now

I wonder how much Marrone looked at Ferentz and said I don't wanna be him

he was a trendy NFL guy because OMG he made those farmers remotely relevant

now he's a nobody because he couldn't recruit

at 1.3 million at a big ten school is real safe, especially when the name is Fitzgerald.

Grobe is also a great fit at wake.

no.'s 3, 6, 12 and 23 are legit from my point of view

Same thing happened to Tedford at Cal. 2013 reality for coaches is loyalty gets you fired...far better to try to job hop to stay ahead of the lynch mob when the inevitable down cycle comes.

I'm not impressed with Shafer but I need to keep telling myself it is his first year and it will take time. How long do we wait????

We're 5-6, with a chance at a bowl game, in a new (tougher) conference, after losing much of our offensive talent from the previous year...and you're chomping at the bit to fire the new head coach?

Are you insane? Seriously, What is wrong with people?

Mack Brown's seat is definitely hot. New AD starts at UT a week from today.
The name to watch for at Texas is Jim Harbaugh. Reports are he isn't happy with the NFL Lifestyle, ala Nick Saban. He would bolt back to college if the right job opened, Texas might be the right job.

Where in my post did I say I wanted shafer to be fired..The thread says coaches that could become available. As much as it pains some people to here. Shafer has not accomplished much YET!

The guy is going to win eight games and bowl this year.

I have a bunch of Iowa friends.

They love Ferentz and they understand the limitations with which he has to work.

He is on an ice cold seat.

I think he is in the middle of a ten-year deal.

Marrone should be so lucky.

Florida already announced Muschamp will be back. Immediately after this weekends game it was announced but said there will be other changes with the staff.

I think Iowa would be crazy to fire him. But you never hear his name thrown around for new jobs like it used to be. I wasn't clear, wasn't arguing that he deserves to go or anything. Just arguing that he's not being mentioned for big time jobs like he was, i don't know, 6 years ago

Is Skip Holtz always on this list, or is it just me?

I think the rule is he is always on the list until he gets fired and then he is off the list until he get hired someplace else.

I understand.

I'm pretty sure he made it clear that he would remain at Iowa - family reasons.

That happened with Jeff Tedford. Builds Cal up to be a national player. He's mentioned for every NFL job, even teams they haven't expanded to include yet. Then Cal became mediocre. Then Cal became terrible. Then they had to get rid of him. I don't even think he's working this year. USC offered him a consultant role and he turned it down.

Not saying that will happen, or should happen with Ferentz. Just a somewhat similar situation where you heard a guy's name linked everywhere, then you didn't.

Cal should not have fired the guy in my opinion.
